I know they lived near where the Caney Fork River flows into the Cumberland in 1850. By 1860, only their daughter-in-law and her children were living there. Her name was Martha D. Black, and I'm trying to learn her maiden name. Her husband, John, ran ferry boats on a river, which was first identified as the Mississippi, then the Tennessee, but I believe was the Cumberland. He died around 1848 on one of his boats. She was a weaver, and her daughter Permelia Vannie married Hugh Garrett, son of William Archer Garrett. If anyone knows more about the family, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you.
