I don't know when Silas & Sallie divorced. I know that she married James J. Gregory in 1897 after his 1st wife Polly Brooks Gregory d. June 9, 1895. James had 3 children by his 1st wife one of which was my husband's grandfather. As far as I know Sallie only had the one child that died, with Silas and Vira was the mother of the 3 surviving daughters. Wish I could be of more help. I was interested as one of my lines is also the Kemp family. I recently ran across a copy of The Macon County Times dated May 30, 1946, and browsing through it I found the obit on Silas Kemp. It is not real long so I will type it. Silas W. Kemp, Dies Near Red Boiling Springs. Silas W. Kemp, familiarly known as Sike Kemp, died at his home on Rt.1, Red Boiling Springs, on Thursday morning just after midnight. Death was attributed to heart disease, although he had other troubles. He had been in declining health for a number of years. His wife, Mrs. Vira Patterson Kemp, died a few years ago. He was 82 years of age and is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Otis Wilmore, of McMinnville; Mrs. Ben Wilburn, of Gallatin; and Mrs. Pervis West, who resided with her father; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one brother, Burrell Kemp, of Hopkinsville; and a sister, Mrs. Annie Carver, of Difficult. The remains were laid to rest at three o'clock Friday afternoon in the Jenkins Cemetery, near the home, following funeral services conducted by Elder W. Leslie Ramsey. The deceased was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church for many years. He was a citizen of the Pleasant Shade section prior to moving to Macon County, Mr. Kemp was engaged in the mercantile business at Prosperity up to his death, with his daughter, Mrs. West actively in charge. The deceased had a large circle of friends and was a good citizen. I think ( but not positive) that Mrs. Ben Wilburn was Flossie Kemp and Ben's parents were Peter & Ellener Burrus(Burris)Wilburn. Peter and Ellener are my husbands gr-grandparents.
