Fannie died in Sherman TX and is buried there I have her death cert. if you would like a copy. Uncle Mitchell Lee (Mitch) Smalling was born in 1868 to Fannie Ballard Smalling and George W Smalling, he died in 1963 in Victory Okla. that is about 4 miles outside of Altus Ok. he married Alma Pearl Holladay and is buried in the Victory Cemetery. Uncle Mitch was the brother of my Elizabeth she married William H. Massey son of George W Massey and Sarah Catherine Burnett Massey. Uncle Mitch was a small man about 5' 7" he had a very long beard, he wore a Military uniform when ever company came WWI but to this day I have never found a record of him serving. He was a very smart man with lots of stories I loved to set and hear him talk, soft voice and he could make you feel like you were there in the story. But as he got older his mind stayed back in the past and later before his death he didn't speak, but he was almost 96 when he died. He and Alma had 8 children. Alma was 16 when they married and Mitchell was 32 she was also born in TN all there children were born in Oklahoma but Bersye she was born in TX and it came up a lot that she was a Texan not a SOONER there children: Era Berniece 1902 Stanton 1905 Bersye Elizabeth 1908 (Uncle Mitch lived with her till his death) Berkie Mae 1909 Bessie G 1912 Cecil Micheal 1818 Jesse Lynn 1821 Carroll 1925 I'm sure he served in WWI because he talked about it but I haven't found the records yet.
