    3. The only thing I found in History of Smith County Jim was the mention of his burial in a section on Revolutionary War Veterans buried in Smith Co. He served in the Virginia militia in the Revolution and probably moved to North Carolina and Kentucky before coming to Smith County sometime before 1818. He filed for pension about 1818 which was stopped in 1820 then restarted in 1830. He died in 1846 and there is a commemorative stone in the Brush Creek Cemetery. The stone simply that states he was a “RWS VA Militia”. A filing in 1821 indicated he had four young children and an old infirm wife but their names are not mentioned. The only one of his children I have been able to identify is his son Jonathan L. Fare, born about 1807 in Kentucky. This Jonathan married Sarah Kitching and was later in Cannon County and DeKalb County. He died in Davidson County about 1882. He was a lawyer. There is also a Christine Fair buried in the Brush Creek Cemetery who died in 1847. Her stone states she was a “Daughter of RWS” She is probably Jonathan's child but I have no proof. I would appreciate any information on this family. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNSMITH-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
