    1. [TNSMITH] Curtis "Kirk" Holland
    2. Karen
    3. There is no twin unless he died very young. In 1900 (Jackson Co, Civ Dist 14,ED 31), Curtis is 3 months old b. Mar 1900(listed as Curtis - parents listed as G. and Bunettie. The image indicates there is another initial, but the census taker has scribbled something over it and it can't read. Siblings are Lester b. Oct 1894 and Chester b. Oct 1896. Mom is listed as having given birth to 4 children with 3 living. (The sibling birthdates are inconsistent with later census records, but I generally tend to trust the earliest census dates as the birthdates were not only fresher in the minds of the parents, but parents are more likely to have kept correct track of their children's ages when they were less than ten). In 1910, still in Jackson Co, Civ Dist 14, ED 37, father is George M., mother is Nettie. Lester is still there, but listed as age 14, the next son is enumerated as "Burtis", age 12, Curtis is age 10 and a new brother, Landon, is age 7. In 1920, Jackson Co, Civ Dist 14, ED 35, head of the house is Millard (now we know what the "M" stands for in 1910), wife is Bernettie, Lester is 24, Landon is 15. Chester/Burtis is not in the house. Curtis is 19, married to Clellie age 16 and they have a son Paul listed age 0/12 months, so he is a newborn. The enumeration was taken Jan 14, 1920, so he was born either in Dec or Jan. I have looked at the 1930 image and I'm not sure what the enumerator intended, either. However, as Curtis is Curtis in the three previous censuses, I believe that is the correct name. He (or his wife or neighbor) may have said "Curt" and the enumerator heard "Kirk". I will also note that on the same page a few citizens lower, there is an entry for a young man listed as "Copur-C" (the index says Capus C, but that's not what it looks like). Maybe this enumerator had some private abbreviations? This Curtis Holland did NOT marry Clella Cook in 1892, as he was not born until 1900, and the Clella he married was 3 years younger than he. So, my next question is do you have a wrong marriage date or are we looking at the wrong Curtis Holland? None of the records give a middle initial. There is a Burris and a Chester that I "think" are the same person found in 1930 as "Bud" Holland. Other than that, NO IDEA. Thanks, Sue <g> It DOES look like Kirk & Bro....!! What it doesn't look like to ME is Kirk V Reo!! That is what is transcribed! All other censuses show him as "Curtis".
