Otis Johnson officiated. Mrs. Butler died Wednesday afternoon, November 23, 1983, at the Smith County Memorial Hospital at the age of 88. She was a native of Jackson County and the daughter of James B [Babe] and Tennessee Ramsey Kemp and was a member of the Smith County United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Genie Butler; two children, Opal Agee, of the Bagdad Community, and Leon Butler, of the Gladdice community; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Notes for GENE BUTLER: Tuesday funeral services for Mr. Genie Butler of the Gladdice Community were conducted from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home in Kempville by Bro. Gary Lee. Burial followed the 10 a.m. servicces in the Genie Butler Cemetery in Jackson County. Mr. Butler died Sunday morning in the Jackson County Hospital at Gainesboro at the age of 95 following a lenghty illness. Born in Jackson County the son of the late Filmore & Mary Jane Thomas Butler, he was a retired farmer abd was married to the former Oshie Kemp who preceeded him in death on November 23, 1983. He was a Methodist in belief. Mr. Butler was also preceeded in death by a son, Leon Butler and by a Grandson, David Butler. Surviving is a daughter, Opal Agee of the Bagdad Community; seven grandchildren; James Agee, Denise Carver, and Renee Richardson all of Gladdice, Stan Agee of Monoville, Janice Anderson of Tanglewood, Peggy Kemp of Defeated Creek, Barbara Loring of Old Hickory, fifteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.     3. Leon Butler Funeral services for Leon Butler, 68, of Gladdice were conducted Thursday, December 31, (1987) at 1:00 p.m. in the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home in Kempville with Bro. Draper Murphy officiating. Interment was in the Genie Butler Cemetery in Gladdice. Mr. Butler passed away Tuesday morning, December 29, in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville following a stroke. He was a farmer. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of Genie Butler and the late Oshie Kemp Butler who passed away in 1983. He was a Methodist. On December 7, 1950, he married the former Helen Spivey, who survives. Survivors, in addition to his wife and father, include three children, Denise Stockton, Renae Richardson, and David Butler, all of Gladdice, a sister, Opal Agee, Bagdad; and 3 grandchildren, Jason and Crystal Butler and Tessa Stockton, all of Gladdice Sanderson Funeral Home of Kempville was in charge of the arrangements.
