My Byrd Family was in Pittsylvania Co., VA in the late 1700's and went from there to Washington Co., TN, then NC, and on to Robertson Co., TN. Sometimes families traveled in wagon trains or groups, so you might want to check these counties for your Collie family. Glenda Bob, I found a record on WorldConnect for an Eleanor Collie, born about 1794 in Virginia, who married Frederick Uhles in 1813 in Smith Co., TN. If this is the correct Eleanor, then your William must have come to TN from Virginia. There is a book entitled "The Collie Family of Pittsylvania County, VA", Revised Edition, Updated 2003 by Betty Cox Collie and Robert King. It might be worth your while to see if you can find a copy in Google Books or at some genealogy department of a library. Sandra
