Sandra, I hate to appear so dense and obtuse, but for the life of me I can't get any results on Ancestry.com's census records of Charles, Charlie, C.J., or Jacob Shrum. I do not subscribe to Ancestry - I get my census info through HeritageQuest. Let me copy the census records I quoted and send to you off-list, OK? It appears from what I see online that Charlie and Isaac (the elder) were brothers, and the sons of John Allen Shrum and Mary Susannah Leath. Perhaps your Isaac was named after his uncle. Even if a man went by "Jr.", it didn't always mean his father was the "Sr." - it could be an uncle, grandfather, etc. And the early spelling (pretty far back) of Shrum seems to have been Shramm or Shraam.
