    1. [TNSMITH] Gregory Line Trying to connect them
    2. Sammie Jean Fairchild
    3. I have Lott Gregory born 1743 Turkey Creek North Carolina my line through him goes to Attala County MS In the same area is a Thomas and Ethel Red Gregory and a Bric Gregory and some of them came to Smith and other counties in TN Now another group of gregorys settled in Attala MS that came from VA to SC then MS Isaac Gregory 1720 Lynchburg VA and dies in SC 1797 I strongly believe all these lines are connected. One reseason is the given names. The other is they all live around each other at one time or another. The other is the family features from one line to the other. I have been for years trying to get one of our gregory's to do dna and at no avail so as a female is there anyway I could get it done on me. 2. Sammie Jean Fairchild
    3. Many Societies are at Risk of Losing Tax Exemption Newsletter reader Jim Anderson wrote to point out a story that should be of interest to officers and members of all genealogy societies in the US. As of October 15, thousands of small non-profit organizations, including many genealogical and historical societies, may lose their tax exempt status if they don't take advantage of a "one time relief" for missing their filing date. For instance, in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts alone, more than 7,900 non-profit organizations are at risk of losing their tax status. The list includes all sorts of non-profit organizations, not just genealogical and historical societies. Performing a quick scan down the list, I noticed that the Central Massachusetts Genealogical Society Inc., the Adams Historical Society Inc., the Ashburnham Historical Society Inc., the Billerica Historical Preservation Corporation, the Bolton Historical Society, and many others on the list. You might want to check to see if YOUR organization is on the list at http://www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=225889,00.html JEANNIE FAIRCHILD http://www.trailstothepast.org kymonroe@rootsweb.com Maternal Surnames: CassityCassetty/Casada/Casaday/Cassidy/Cassitdy/Caskey/Casty Etc Spelling of the name, Climer, Dalton, Davis, Dycus, Green, Harton, Holland, Hughes, Hull, Jackson, Key, King, Kirby, Knight, Law, Lawler, Lee, Long, Manson, Marrow, Massey, McInnis, McKinnis, Newberry, Patterson, Pike, Ramsey, Sircy, Soyars, Thomas, Welch, Witcher, Young Fathernal Surnames: Adams, Brooks, Bull, Burchfield, Chenault, Cohen, Conn, Coon, Duncan, Gilkey, Gregory, Jamison, Long, Lowe, Lowery, Norwood, Peeler, Pressley, Searcy, Shomaker/Shumaker, Thomlin, White, Williams Spouse: Blanton, Burchett, Coldiron, Fairchild, Conley, Long, Williams, Howard, Picklesimer

William was a farmer. Nancy died of dropsy of the heart. [Questions: is William's middle name "Mark" and is he a son of Murphy or of Richard? Is Nancy's maiden name "Kennedy" or "Canady" or "Jones"?] A son of Murphy Kemp (21 March 1770 - 1851/1860) [1820 USC] [1830 USC] [1840 USC] [1850 USC]. Born in Granville/Wake Co., NC, and married Sarah/Sally Seay/See (22 Apr. 1775 - <1825). They emigrated to, lived and passed in Smith Co., TN. [NOTE: There is an outside chance that Sarah's wife's maiden name was Baird, not Seay.] Sue Gregory wrote: > Gary, Which John Kemp is this that is James Benson's father??? > > Kentucky Death Records, 1852-1953 #15324 > Name: James Benson Kemp > Death Date: 7 Jun 1940 > Death Location: Logan > Residence Location: Logan (Adairville, KY) > Age: 70 > Gender: Male > Ethnicity: White (married) > Birth Date: 25 Oct 1869 > Birth Location: Smith, Tennessee > Spouse's name: Geneva Lee Herring > Father's Name: John Kemp > Father's Birth Location: Smith, Tennessee > Mother's Name: Mary Ann Butler > Mother's Birth Location: Smith Tennessee > Inf; J.W. 3. Sue, What information do you need on Alexander Flatt?  My mother was a Flatt before she married a Grisham. I have descendants from Alexander, his 12 children - one was my great grandfather Henry Hamlet (or Hamilton depending on which family member you talk to), my grandfather Hugh L. Flatt & his 6 children. My information says all the Flatts were from Jackson Co.,TN. My grandfather & some of his siblings moved to Davidson Co.,TN & some descendants live in Sumner Co.,TN.  Kim Fox ________________________________ From: Sue Gregory <sagsspot@aol.com> To: TNSMITH@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, July 29, 2010 11:51:45 AM Subject: [TNSMITH] Children of Alexander F Flat(t) I'm sorry, I already deleted the email after abstracting the info, but when I got the names of Alexander Flatt's children in my files and saw that he had a daughter, Rose who died in infancy, I realized I have another "Rosa Lee [Rosie] Flatt" who married John Simpson Dycas, 2 Sep 1897 in Jackson Co., TN. I do not have life dates for her, but show John S Dycas as, 3 Jun 1866, Jackson Co., TN ~ 14 Jan 1960, Macon Co., TN. I don't show parentage for Rosa Lee Flatt. Does anyone know who SHE was?? 1. [TNSMITH] FindMyPast.com Adds more pensinoer Records and Images
    2. Sammie Jean Fairchild
    3. FindMyPast.co.uk adds more pensioner records and images. FindMyPast.co.uk has just added 184,650 records and 1,003,794 images to the company's Chelsea Pensioners collection for the period 1760-1854. This brings the total amount of Chelsea Pensioner records and images on findmypast.co.uk to 691,520 records and 4,200,729 images. These records are of men pensioned out of the British Army from 1760 through 1913. It is not limited to residents of The Royal Hospital at Chelsea. The records are referred to as the 'Chelsea Pensioners' because the office that administered the pensions was located in The Royal Hospital at Chelsea. That office kept the records for Chelsea Hospital residents (referred to as "in-pensioners") and non-residents (or "out-pensioners") alike. The great majority of pensioned soldiers were out-pensioners and did not reside at the Hospital itself. The records are free to search, like all the records on findmypast.co.uk. If you find a record of interest, you do have to pay a fee to view the image of the original document. Even if you don't think that any of your ancestors could have been Chelsea Pensioners, give searching the records a go. Your ancestor may have only served in the army for a short time before they were pensioned out. Most of the records provide the soldier's name, place of birth, regiment(s), year of discharge and dates of service within the British Army. They also contain detailed descriptions of a soldier's physical appearance and any distinguishing features, such as tattoos or scars. The records are the next best thing to looking at a photograph of your ancestor; there are usually six or seven records for each soldier. The Chelsea Pensioner records contain information about pensioned soldiers but not for sailors. FindMyPast.co.uk will be adding another 5.6 million records to the Chelsea Pensioner Collection over the next fourteen months. You might like to watch the video featuring Debra Chatfield and Caroline Kimball below that describes the collection.
