I do have a Draper Jenkins b. 1904 d. 2000 married Maude A. Williams b. 1905 d. 1989. They had two children that I know of. Joanne married Ernest Cotton and Bobbye Jane married Ray Phillips. I think but have not proven that this Draper Jenkins is son of John Crittendon Jenkins 1882-1960 & Minnie B. Boston 1887-1975. They had a son Draper born ca 1905. siblings Daisey, Era, Charlie, & Odell. I don't know the parents of Minnie B. Boston. John Crittendon Jenkins parents were Leonidas Jenkins, Sr. 1845-1931& (another) Martha Elizabeth Jenkins b. ca 1853-1926. This Martha Elizabeth Jenkins was daughter of Coleman Jenkins and she was married twice, both times to cousins. Married First to James Jenkins son of Nicholas Jenkins & Susan Boston. Martha and James divorced and then Martha married Leonidas Jenkins. Leonidas was son of Jefferson Jenkins and Martha Parkhurst. So if this Draper was your Martha Elizabeth's nephew it could have been from the Boston side of the family since I don't know who Minnie B. Boston's parents were? Mary Knight It is very possible as I have been told of a Boston connection. My mothers double cousin told me he knew of a Draper Jenkins who was Martha Elizabeth's nephew which I am assuming would be her brothers son, do you know if any of them had a son named Draper? Also in the 1900 Smith co census it lists George R. Silcox age 38 with wife Martha (Jenkins) as age 43 which would put her birth year as 1857, also the names of many of their children are commonly used in the Samuel Jenkins line, such as George, Nancy, Reuban Andrew, Bettie ect... William Green (the Macon Co. Banker) was on our line...I descend from Isaac Green, Robert Green, Bailey Green, George Washington Green, Charlie Clarence Green, Marvin "B" Green. Isaac was married to a Hendrix/Hendricks (I would pay to have confirmed proof of what her first name is). Isaac brought his family from Va it is believed (also believe he may have been in N.C. to Va. and to Tenn.) but he lived in a cave in Smith Co. for some time, supposedly buried on Green Hill near Pleasant Shade, Tenn. in smith Co. Some family buried in Canter Cem., Smith also. Some of these Greens married into Witcher line; beginnings of some in Macon Co., Jackson Co, Would love to correspond with others on these lines. Rick, Cal's column http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnsmith/ccarticles/aug31-ABCD-1950.htm and http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnsmith/ccarticles/Aug30-ABC-1956.htm dose say that Henry and Lucinda had a daughter Martha but he has no further info on her. But, I'm setting her looking at Lucinda's widows pension application which is dated Nov. 17th, 1863. In this application she names as her surviving children. Mary Ann born 19 November 1849; William C. born 5th of March 1855; John W. born 3rd of April 1857; Matilda born 9th of March 1859; Henry L. born 10th of July 1861; Lucinda E. born the 9th of Sept 1863. So if they had a daughter Martha she wasn't living when this application was filed. Lucinda died before recieving Henry's pension and Samuel Boston and Joel & Jane Hesson Gregory (the grandparents also filed papers because the children were living with them after Lucinda died. 1870 Macon Co. Census Gregory Joel E. 63 Gregory Jane 63 Jenkins Henry L. 8 Jenkins Lucinda E. 6 I think Lucinda is the one Cal refers to as Bettie but he says she died young. Cal's column is lacking on many of their children. And he says some went to Texas. I don't have anything on Samuel's family past the 1880 census of Macon Co. Gary, Though I have been told by elders who grew up in Smith co. that there is a connection to the Boston family, not sure that would be the one. The reason you found no Smith co census prior to 1900 is because George Richard and Martha Elizabeth migrated via make shift house boat from Clay co. down the Cumberland river to Smith co. between 1890 and 1900. Thanks for your efforts and please keep me informed. Rick Woodard

Mary & Rick...... When I read Mary's reply that based on the 1865 birthdate for Martha Elizabeth our Henry & Lucinda could not have been her parents as I tended to agree as I, too, did not have her listed as their child. After doing some digging tonight, I'm not 100% convinced either way!!! I found George R. & Martha in the 1900, 1910, 1920, & 1930 Census records and it seems their birthdates were never the same! (Martha goes from being 4 yrs younger than George to 10 years younger! LOL). The following is based on their ages given at the time of each census.... CENSUS GEORGE MARTHA 1900 02/1852 10/1856 1910 1861 1865 1920 1858 1868 1930 1862 1872 Now my problem is that I only have one Martha or Elizabeth or Martha Elizabeth in my database that I do not already have a spouse listed & had no luck searching the census records for any of the above names as a minor child listed in her parent's household in Smith or Macon Counties. This one Martha that I do not have a spouse listed was b 1867 to Samuel & Mary 'Polly' Boston, but the question becomes, 'Why would she say she was b. in 1856 for the 1900 Census?' .....so I doubt this is the correct one. The only other possibility that I found was on the 1880 Sumner County Census..... Elizabeth Jenkins (17), daughter of Esley (47) & LUCINDA Jenkins (35). I do not have these Jenkins folks in my database. Sorry I'm not much help!! Still Diggin.... Gary J
Does anyone have any photographs of the Blair Cemetery located on Vaden Lane, just off Maggart Road? I am told that the graves of my ggg-grandparents, Charles R. and Sarah Sallie Campbell Blair, are buried in this cemetery in graves only marked by fieldstones. Yes I am related to all the Woodards in Smith, Jackson and surrounding counties. We are all the children of John and Tabitha (Dickerson) Woodard whos children along with Tabitha migrated to Smith co. about 1848 from N. Carolina. My grandfather was born in Jackson co. and my father in Smith co. (Elmwood). I am also related to the Greens as my grandmother (Nellie (Overstreet) Woodard) has a grandmother (Martha Francis (Fannie) Green) who married John Overstreet. Rick Woodard
