christian and margaret had one child stillborn which was named mamie If Mamie was born and died 1888 as cemetery record indicates, she would have had to have been Martha's daughter since Christian and Margaret didn't marry until 1890. Sorry to be such a pain! :-) John, isn't it? Do you have any death, marriage or other dates for George's son George b. ca 1824, I had on decsendant of Thomas Boston tell me he had traced him to his death in Harden Co. IL but I don't have any dates or marriages etc. Mary Knight Mary Knight
Thanks for helping us straighten this out. But I have a question concerning Christian's death year 1889 as record in the cemetery records online. He didn't marry Margaret Hesson until June 01, 1890 so he must have died after that? Mary Knight george boston is the son of christian boston 1,jacob is the adopted son of george and matilda, george also had a son which he named christian which was born in 1861 and he died in 1889. christian 2 married marthur hesson and she died in 1888 and then he married margaret evelyn hesson, then he died and margaret married his brother jacob, which was my great great grand father.confusing huh but is a fact. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Sagsspot@aol.com> To: <TNSMITH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 14, 2005 7:02 PM Subject: Re: [TNSMITH] boston and hesson > > George Boston is the son of Jacob, but has a different mother. I believe this is James nephew, Samuel, Jr. son of Samuel & Sabra Goad. If you look at Samuel Sr. he doesn't have a son Samuel living with him in 1850 and Samuel Jr. didn't marry Mary Boston until 1852. I don't think Cal ever said that James had a son Samuel? But I do believe James 23 is James Jr., son of James and Susanna. Cal's Column Aug 30, 1956 gives only 8 children. Dick, Jim Jr., Archibald, Ralston, Hulda, Marie, Ran, and Jeff. Cal's Column Aug 31, 1950 gives 9 children. Jefferson, Arch, Jim, Ralston, Dick, Maria, Miranda, "Mirada", and Mahulda. I would have to find the correct columns but Cal has conflicting info on Mirada.(various spellings). One column says she married John Smith and one says she married Josh Smith I think? She was still living at home in 1860 listed as Marilda 21. She married Joshua W. 1) This 1880 Census below is George Washington Boston, Sr and his second wife, Matilda Parkhurst. His daughter, Sallie, age 44 is by his first wife Juda Cope, who died in 1844. Sallie was married to a "Dismang", Mary Dismang, being her child... In April 17, 1845, George, Sr married Matilda Parkhurst. So Christian, Jacob, etc her by her. 2) D C Boston also spoken of below, is George's and Matilda's oldest child. David C Boston, Sr was b. c 1847-48 and married Delilah D Thomas. Thanks for looking that up, Mary. I now have more information on the Bostons than I thought I would ever have!! http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tn/smith/census/1880/115-23.gif Here is what I'm looking at Nancy, it is difficult to read but I'm pretty sure it says George is 86. Mary K. Mary - The 1880 Smith County Census shows that Jacob's father was George Boston, born in 1814. I think this George was the son of the George who was born in 1793/1794 in North Carolina and moved to Smith County, Tennessee. I think there was a generation missing in Ray's information. Could the suit that D. C. Boston is involved in be a suit concerning the George who was born in 1793/1794? 1880 Smith County, Tennessee, US Census George Boston - Head of Household - 66 years old - Miller - born in TN - Father born in NC - Mother born in VA Matilda - Wife - 53 years old - House keeping - born in TN - Father born in TN - Mother born in VA Sallie J. ? - daughter - 44 years old - born in Tennessee Mary ? - granddaugher - 19 years old - born in Tennessee Christian - Son - 16 years old - born in Tennessee Jacob - Son - 6 years old - born in Tennessee A. Nancy, that is George b. December 20, 1793 in the 1880 census and his second wife Matilda Parkhurst. I'm going to have to see if I can find the image on that because I have his age as 86 in 1880 and the LDS transcription also has his age as 86 in 1880. Yes, I know the census says Jacob was his son but I believe other documents indicate otherwise. I do believe George & Matilda raised Jacob, but I still don't think he is a biological son. Yes the suit was concerning George Boston b. Dec. 20, 1793 children. And yes D. C. (David Crockett) Boston that gave the deposition was George & Matilda's son. George W. Boston, (Jr.?) b. ca 1824 was a son of George's first wife Juda Cope. According to Ray Boston George married Juda Cope in Rowan Co. NC. In Matilda's widows pension she names Juda Cope as George's first wife but I don't think it gives their marriage date. I was told by one contact that he traced this George to Harden Co. IL where he died but I haven't been able to find anything online on him yet. I think one of Cal's Columns says this George went to Illinois but I'm not sure about that, will have to check? You guys are going to make me have to dig out my pension papers! :-) To see exactly what they say. :-) Yes, the David Boston living nearby was George & Matilda's son. He married Delila D. Thomas (Bean) daughter of Chesley B. Thomas and Mariah Jenkins. Delila supposely was first married to a Peter Bean? but I don't have the marriage date. And the only marriage date I find on David Boston and comes from a Family Tree Maker Cd? BOSTON, David C. Marriage Wife: Delila BEAN Marriage Date: 30 Apr 1864 Recorded in: Smith, Tennessee Source: FHL Number 319168 Dates: 1838-1881 I don't find this record in the online marriage transcriptions for Smith Co. TN? Mary Knight Mary - The 1880 Smith County Census shows that Jacob's father was George Boston, born in 1814. It is apparent someone else has already looked this up. This census is very difficult to read...original has torn pages and water damaged it appears. Jenkins and Matilda and family; then William Jenkins and Matilda family; then John Jenkins and Nancy family; then Susan Jenkins widow and children; then Peter 7 Nancy Jenkins family; then Dixon A. and Nancy Jenkins family then Albina Jenkins & children-shows she is married but there is no husband listed and no notation that she is widowed; followed by Martha J. Parkhurst widow at 46 b Va and Mary E. Parkhurst dau 16 b Ill; then Gilbert Jenkins and Lisa family: Melba All these are in District 6 Smith. All lived in close proximity to one another.
