    3. Hi, Someone on the list has already contacted me to do the lookups. ------------- I have an ancestor that moved from Virginia in the early 1830s to Smith County. I'm not sure why. It would seem strange (at first sight) considering Tennessee was more associated with North Carolina; and English Virginians seemed to migrate to Kentucky. However, I guess Tennessee was already well established as its own state by the 1830s. So I should consider it just a normal land purchase. Just thoughts.... 1. Fw: George BOSTON, Jr. UPDATE
    2. Mary Knight
    3. Hi All, I found my contact that I exchanged info with on Thomas Boston. I'm forwarding this information for those that are interested. Mary Knight Sent: Sunday, July 17, 2005 9:11 AM Subject: George BOSTON, Jr. Here is what I have on George BOSTON, Jr. He was in the 1860 census of Hardin Co. IL as age 36, farmer, born TN, no real estate, $25 personal property, day laborer, with wife Mary E., age 23, born TN and a Mary J. HALE, 16, born IL. Living near him was the family of Booker JENKINS. No other BOSTONs in Hardin Co. IL that year. He joined Co. F, 131st Regiment Illinois Infantry on 13 August 1862 (same day and regiment as Thomas BOSTON). He was taken sick and sent to the hospital at Benton Barracks, MO where he died on 28 April 1863. He was married in Smith Co, TN at home of George BOSTON by Dow BELEW in the year 1858 - marriage records destroyed in the war. His wife was Mary E. SNEED. After George, Jr.'s death, she married Jackson R. SHIPP who was appointed the guardian of George and Mary's son William D. BOSTON. Another statement in the pension record states that George BOSTON was a lieutenant in Co. F, 131st Illinois REgiment, that he was taken sick at Milliken Bend, LA sometime in May 1863 and sent to Benton Barracks, St. Louis, MO where he died on or about 15th day of July 1863. His disease was chronic diarrhea. Son William D. BOSTON was born 5 June 1862. I will keep looking but I believe that that William D. BOSTON lives to be married and dies young as well. I also show that Matilda PARKHURST BOSTON died in 1899. Do you have this information?

    1. Ezekiel Jenkins & Fannie B. Kemp
    2. G.J.Pace
    3. A query was recently posted to identify Fannie B. Kemp, wife of Ezekiel Jenkins. Ask and ye shall receive. Frances (Fannie) Betsy Kemp (15 Nov. 1884 – 22 Feb. 1966) married Dr. Ezekiel Walker (Zeke) Jenkins (26 Nov. 1979 – 26 Dec. 1922), son of William Chesley (Bill Sam) and Jane Boston Jenkins, 2 May 1906. She took for her second husband Willie Stanford Donoho (11 May 1914 – 9 Dec. 1992) on 18 May 1935. This union produced no issue. Fannie was a member of the U.D.C. (49/99) based on her uncle John Marlin Kemp’s service. Fannie was one of nine children of James Layton Kemp (5 June 1842 – 2 Aug. 1913) and Virginia Josephine Witt (26 July 1846 – 31 Mar. 1914) (NOTE: the cemetery book incorrectly lists her birth year as 1845), daughter of Dandridge A. and Elizabeth (Betsy) Williams Brockett Witt, 28 July 1864. (NOTE: On her DAR application, their daughter Fannie Betsy declared that her father, James Layton, was born June 1843 and died Aug. 1914, and that her mother Virginia Witt was born Aug. 1845 and died Mar. 1915. However, the Pankey Book confirms the tombstone life dates given following their names.) James and Virginia were born, raised, married, lived and died in Smith Co., TN. Virginia Josephine Witt and Martha Evelyn Witt, wife of William (Uzzi/Uzza/Auzy) Kemp, were sisters as well as nieces to Mary (Polly) Ann Williams, Asa (Acy) Kemp’s wife.
