    3. Melba, The children I have listed for Lemuel & Cora Vaughn are Bill; Rosa Mae; Naomi & Nettie Holland. Don't have dates or birth order but looks like Nettie's the oldest. And I don't remember where I got the names either! :-) Mary In the meantime if you look at the 1920 Macon Co. Census Lemuel 43 Cora B. (Vaughn) 29 Luther B. son 17 Delia S. dau 15 Nettie G. dau 2 1/2 With Nettie being on 2 1/2 this would be the dau of Cora & Lemuel and they probably married about 1916-1917/ As Rebecca and Lemuel only had 2 children (supposedly) I believe this Luther B. should be Luther R. (R. for Rolston/Raulston). Rolston was born about 1902 and this Luther above at 17 in 1920 would have been born also in 1902-1903. Melba

    3. I remember this family meeting them when I was about 6 years old their daughter was our next door neighbor Daisy Ella Gregory Dickens July 31, 1896 at Pleasant Shade, died May 4, 1962 at Madison, Tenn. Burial Sanderson Cemetery, she was married to Benjamin Harrison Dickens March 1, 1889 in Sullivan's Bend, died July 25, 1968 at Madison, Tenn., they had two children Rudolph Dickens, & Erma Ruth who was married to Virgle Tisdale, 2nd Woodrow Krantz They all lived within a block of our house. I went to school with the grandchildren of Mr. & Mrs. Dickens, I remember her brothers and sisters coming to visit and the stories they would tell, Mr. Dickens would sit on the breeseway at night and listen to the old Nashville Vols Baseball team games, and tell stories about his teen years in Pleasant Shade, I heard about the morning that Poney Hackett got killed, and his funeral, about Dr. Alexander, about the Halloween they put the outhouse on the roof of the Pleasant Shade Bank, about his buggy being stolen, and the people he grew up with (Tommy Sanderson, George Wakefield & several other. Mrs. Dickens sister older sister Sallie Jane Gregory who married Napoleon Ersley "Pole" Oldham, they would come down from Portland, Tenn. and spend the day with them. For lunch Pole would take two raw eggs break them put them in a glass and shake them up and drink them, I would stand there and be amazed that any body would do that for lunch or drink raw eggs. Ruth Gregory who married Melvin Nixon they came and stayed the night the next day the went to his sister home which about 1/2 mile form us, they lived next to L & N mainline , and spent the night there, some time during the night a real fast train came Thur and shook the house and making noise, it scared Melvin & Ruth they got up got dress and went back to Pleasant Shade, Mr. Dickens would to tell this every time Melvin & Ruth would visit. Another member of this family is Wendleen Gregory Dixon, she and husband Glen lived about 4 houses down form us, they move back to Pleasant Shade about 1964, she is D/O Barnett "Barney" Gregory & Nina Hackett. 3. I'm not related to the Gregory's Herold! :-) It would be my husband but he's not really related to them either. He is a Knight/Jenkins/Parkhurst/Lovelady/Carnahan to name a few. He descends from Old William Jenkins as follows John Knight & Me Harvey Knight & Ruby Woods (parents) Elster Knight & Laura Lovelady (grandparents) Joseph Newton Knight & Rebecca Jenkins Jefferson & Martha Parkhurst Jenkins James & Susanna Goad Jenkins Roderick & Nancy Pack Jenkins Old William Jenkins His gr-grandfather Joseph Newton Knight (husband of Rebecca Jenkins) had a sister Eliza Jane Knight that married William Edward Gregory, son of William Nelson Gregory and Martha T. Gregory. etc, etc. Thats about as close he comes to the Gregory's I think. I just like to put all the connecting families in my file. :-) Mary K.
