    3. I list marriage to 1) Nancy Stewart bef 1850; 2) Susan West, aft 1862; 3) Martha A Mincher, Jan 25, 1866; and 4) Sarah A Witcher, aft 1876. Was he married to Susan West and was "Witcher", Sarah's married name before?? Sue G Sue, I just plain gave up trying to figure out from Cal's column who Coleman's wives were! :-) Susan West might be correct, but I don't know for sure or where they married at. Gary and everyone says his first wife was Nancy Stewart. Don't know when they married or when she died. Or did they divorce? I have never found Coleman in 1850 census anywhere yet. In 1860 he is in Dade Co. Georgia and his wife's name is Susan. (so this might be Susan West but I don't know where they married? But it would have had to have been before 1860) 1860 Census (Dade Co, GA): Coleman Jenkins 35 farm laborer, born in TN Susan Jenkins 25 b. GA Margaret Jenkins 9 b. GA Sarah Jenkins 8 b. GA Martha Jennkins 5 b. GA Isaac Jenkins 4 b. GA Cynthia Jenkins 1 b. GA Clarisa? Carter? 23 female b. GA (just guessing at the name, can't make it out well) Celia Carter? 2 or 4 female b. GA Susan Carter? 1 b. GA I had a marriage look up done in Dade county and the only marriage they could find for Coleman Jenkins was to a Martha Mincher January 25, 1866. 1870 census of Smith County District #6, Dixon Springs, July 28, 1870. cdpg 75A Jenkins, Coleman 44 b. TN, Jenkins Martha A. 24 b. AL ( Martha Mincher) Jenkins Martha E. 17 b. AL, ( Martha Eliza) Jenkins Isaac S. 13 b. GA, Jenkins Cynthia 10, b. GA, (is this Cissie?) Jenkins Joel C. 8 b. GA, Jenkins Mary P. 4 b. GA Jenkins James R. 1b. GA. I believe this is probably Martha Mincher in 1870 Smith Co. Also Martha E.'s 17 birth place should probably say GA, not AL By 1880 he is married to Sarah Ann McClard and living in Macon Co. TN. So I really don't know how many wives he had and which children really belong to which wife! :-) I only put in the wives I had evidence for! :-) Mary Knight

There is no marriage record recorded in the Smith Co. Marriage records that are online for Samuel Jenkins and Emaline Toney. I'm going to have to dig through my papers but I have here somewhere some TN marriage records by Sisler? (I think?) that I copied on the Jenkins. There was a marriage license issued for a Samuel Jenkins and Emaline Toney in Smith Co. I think? But according to the printout I have there was "no return" on the marriage license. So I think one of them changed their mind! :-) Mary Knight

He didn't marry Margaret Evelyn Hesson, until June 01, 1890, then she married Jacob Boston Nov 7, 1893, so Christian had to have died June 1890-Nov 1893. Mary Knight

    3. Danene, Lize Mince was a sister to George Bridgewater, Walter and Raymond were sons of George. I knew all of them but Walter. More later. I think we may be onto something. My great-grandmother, Maggie Gregory Burris, was born out-of-wedlock. And, you know, in those days, everything was such a big secret. I worked with my grandmother for years to get her to tell me something about her mother's heritage. She finally gave the information I included in the message below. She also gave me the following. Some appears correct and some is still questionable. She said that Martha Gregory (daughter of Robert Hawkins Gregory) had brothers and sisters. She listed them in this order: George Gregory Bridgewater Gregory Walter Gregory Raymond Gregory m. Irene Wix Liza Gregory Mense She said that Liza had about 15 children. She listed them as Mary Mense Fuqua, Jim, Bob, Lewis, and others. I am not sure if all the ones listed above are brothers and sisters to Martha -- its just what my grandmother thought. She also told me that my great-grandmother was pretty much raised by her uncle. But never told me which one. Is your mother still living? If so, could you ask about Uncle George? Thanks so much for the info! Ophelia died at a young age and my mother went to live with George Allen and Ocenia Gregory. Mother has told me several times about Uncle George visiting with his niece "Mag" Burris. I had no information on Martha except she was born ca. 1863. Hope we can figure this out.
