A really great and active site. I would hope I can get as much help on my line as so many of you have received. I would like any information on John Bockman, b. 1810, Christopher Bockman, b. 1812 and Michael Bockman, b. 1815. All have various spellings as indicated in the subject, plus others. I think they may have been brothers, tho I have no proof. The three of them and a Henry Boughman , which may have been their father were all shown in the Smith Co 1837 Tax List. I cannot find them anywhere else in Smith Co records except Christopher was in Smith Co in 1850. He left there for Missouri. Michael went to Dade Co, Ga and then appears in 1850 Texas census. John in Franklin Co Alabama 1850 census and them he moved back to Jackson Co Tn. He is buried in Bockman Cemetery in Putnam Co Tn. I found Christopher Bockman or Balkman in the 1850 Smith County, Tenn. Census p331. He is living with Nancy and his children. He lists his being born in Virginia. Hope this helps. Sue I got Robert Lee's age from the 1870 census of Smith Co. where he is listed as 3 mos and his birth month is given as Jan. He is not in 1880 census as far as I can tell so he probably died prior to 1880. I don't know how else to list his birth since thats the only one I have for him. I find it strange also that if Henry Melton "Gub" Gregory was born Feb. 27, 1870 as the cemetery record indicates, why wasn't he listed in the 1870 census? I Believe I had James Stanton's birth as March 13, 1862 but noted that Nancy Gann had 1865 for the year? Maybe she can help with the correct birth year. On the rest of the info you have on James Stanton, I have the same. Mary Knight Mary, I had in my files that Robert Lee G was b. 1869?? How could he be born a month before his brother?? I also list another child?? James Stanton "Jim" G, b. March 13, 1862 and married Elnora Shoulders. They had a daug, Mary G. who married Joseph L Woodard. Jim married 2) Lillie Ann Bennett.
