Hi Sue, The Henry B. and Eddy B. in Macon Co. 1910 aren't Peter Mitchel Hackett and Luvernia Catherine Knights sons. They are still living at home with their parents in Smith Co. in 1910. And they are younger than the ones in 1910 Macon. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tn/smith/census/1910/117-06b.gif Hackett Mitchell 50 1st mar mar 18 yrs Hackett Vernia L. wife 41 1st mar mar 18 7ch 7liv Hackett Nannie dau 14 Hackett Benton H. son 13 Hackett Henry B. son 10 Hackett Curtis W. son 5 Hackett Marvin A. son 3 Hackett Eddie E. son 8/12 I've been searching and here's what I think. Rutha Jane Gregory b. ca 1852 daughter of William J. "Jabe" Gregory & Mary Ann Celia Davis. married November 02, 1871 to William J. Brim. By 1880 Smith Co. census Rutha Jane is widowed with 3 children. I find this marriage record online. Hackett, Elijah T. Brim, R. Jane Oct 19, 1884 So I think Thomas Elijah Hackett's first wife was Rutha Jane Gregory Brim(m) Then when did Rutha Jane Gregory Brim (Hackett?) die? I don't have a death date for her. Then I think Thomas Elijah Hackett married Letha E. Knight in 1895. Mary Knight Mary, from what "I" know?? Henry B and Eddy B Hackett are nephews of Thomas Elijah Hackett. They are sons of Peter Mitchell Hackett, Thomas's 1/2 brother. Patti....I did not think it would be on a check out basis. Still wonder if it would be available on interlibrary loan from the Nashville Archives. Worth a try. When we were on a visit to the Carthage Library in the 1980's I wanted to see 2 different books...both had been "borrowed". Carmack Key told me that one had been taken twice by unknown researchers returned and borrowed again. No one could figure out who was doing it. So I went to Virginia State Archives and requested the same books and would you believe both had been "borrowed" and not returned? I quit asking. I need some help with some missing pieces on Thomas Elijah Hackett, son of Peter Hackett, Jr (II) and his second wife Sarah Elizabeth P. Taylor. History of Smith County story on the Peter Hackett family gives son Thomas Elijah Hackett's birth as Feb. 7, 1864. From another source I have Feb. 7, 1863 From Barbara Gammon LaValley's Worldconnect file I find this information and the birth as Feb. 7, 1862 . ID: I10892 . Name: Letha Evie Knight Sidwell . Given Name: Letha Evie Knight . Surname: Sidwell . Sex: F . Birth: 11 Aug 1867 in , Smith, Tennessee . Death: 26 Dec 1940 in , Macon, Tennessee . Change Date: 31 Dec 2003 at 09:12 Marriage 1 Thomas Elijah Hackett b: 7 Feb 1862 in , Smith, Tennessee . Married: 24 Sep 1895 in , Smith, Tennessee 1 . Change Date: 31 Dec 2003 Children 1. Ervie Denton Hackett b: 15 Feb 1901 in , Macon, Tennessee I have a Letha E. Knight with a birth date of 11 Aug. 1867 as daughter of Avery Parham Knight and Catherine Willis. I have no marriage info for her. I find in 1910 Macon Co. Census the following and I suspect that Henry B. & Eddy B. Hackett living on either side of him are sons of Thomas Elijah Hackett by his first wife? Can anyone confirm that and who was his first wife? HH# 122 Hackett, Henry B. 22, mar 1yr b. TN Hackett, Berta A. wife 20 mar 1yr 1ch 1liv b. KY Hackett, Clifton T. son 5/12 b. TN HH# 123 Hackett, Elijah 48 2nd mar mar 14yrs b. TN Hackett, Norman M. son 21 b. TN Hackett, Ervie D. son 9 b. TN HH# 124 Hackett, Eddy B. 24 mar 2yrs b. TN Hackett, Edna L. wife 18 mar 2yrs 1ch 1liv b. TN Sidwell, Martha L. sis 22 single b. TN If there was a living child to this couple it is not listed in the transcription I have. I find a marriage in the Smith Co. marriage records online transcribed as: Hackett, T. E. Sidwell, S. E. Sep 24, 1895 Should this be "L." E. Sidwell? Is this Letha Evie Knight and if so, who is the Sidwell she married? 1910 indicates only one marriage for Letha? Census also indicates Letha has 6 children and 6 living. I only see 4 living with them that could be Letha's. Is Martha L. Sidwell sister of Eddy B. Hackett a child of Letha Evie's by her first marriage? That makes 5 children if Martha L. is her daughter? Who was the sixth child? Can anyone confirm or deny any of this or shed any light? In 1986 a HISTORY OF SMITH COUNTY TENNESSEE was complied. Nina Sutton and Sue Maggart Petty were terrific as editors. Families were invited to send stories of their Smith Co. families. This is a huge book of over 800 pages and oversized pages but a good source to use when searching for Smith Co. surnames. It also includes some history of Smith County in its' early day settlement. I am sure they do have a copy (one at least). I am not sure if they would allow it to be checked out. Confirm it at the library. I also know a copy was in the Salt Lake Family History Library when I visited there several years ago. And there probably is a copy in the Nashville Archives. My connection to the Snoddy family is through Leonard Clark and Ann Snoddy Clark who were married in Pittsylvania Co., Va in Dec. of 1809. Leonard and Ann migrated to Smith Co. where they made their home. Ann's parents were John Snoddy Jr. and Elizabeth Sampson Snoddy. Elizabeth Sampson's brother was Francis Marion Sampson who bought property on Bluff Creek in Smith Co. in abt. 1810. Elizabeth and Francis Marion Sampson were children of William and Jane Fuqua Sampson.
