If Virgina b 1835/36 was their first child they would have been married about 1855 YET marriage record says date of marr 1864. Should this marriage date have read 20 Nov 1854 rather than 1864.? And are Alice & Virginia the same person? If anyone has more info re the children of Henry & Ann with dates it would be helpful. We have several Clarkey- 1)Elijah M. Haynie md Clarkey Beasley and had dau 2)Clarkey Haynie who md Rufus Perry on 2 Nov 1820 and 3)the Clarkey Haynie who Md Henry M. Hackett on 20 Nov 1864. Melba Here's what I have. Henry Miles Hackett b. Oct. 1, 1828 d. Nov. 19, 1906 married about 1856 1st to Clarky Ann Haynie b. May 20, 1834 d. Nov. 6, 1863. She was the daughter of Milton B. Haynie & Elizabeth G. Haynie. Listed as Ann in 1860 census. Henry married 2nd on Nov. 19, 1864to Clarkey Mildred Haynie b. Feb. 5, 1838 d. Feb. 12, 1880. She was the daugther of Edward Bradley "Ned" Haynie & Elizabeth Payne. Listed as Milly in 1870 census. Henry married 3rd on December 20, 1881 to Lou Ella (Luella) Petty b. Jul 7, 1858 d. Jan 13, 1944. She was daughter of William Petty & Elizabeth "Betsy" Dunlap. Listed as Luella in census that I have on her. Yes Virginia & Alice are the same person. Virginia Alice Hackett b. February 11, 1857 d. ? married David L. Cage July 30, 1873. Mary K. Thanks for replies re Hackett. I was not sure about merging these families but it was correct. I had James Casper Hackett listed as James C....so all is well, almost. I did have J.C.H. as s/o Henry Miles Hackett and Clarkie/Clarkey Haynie. Who do you have as parents of this Clarkie? On the 1860 Smith Census we find Henry M. Hackett 32, b Va. (abt 1828) Ann 24 b Tn (abt 1836) Virginia A. 4 b Tnn (abt 1855-56) James C. 1 b Tnn (1859) The children listed in the Smith History Book does not list a Virginia, but Alice, Edie T., James , and Zollie Coffer as the children of Henry M. and Clarkey Ann Haynie. Henry M. md on 20 Nov 1864 to Ann (Clarkey). re Smith Marriages. Re the 1860 census Henry would have been 8 years older than Ann. If Virgina b 1835/36 was their first child they would have been married about 1855 YET marriage record says date of marr 1864. Should this marriage date have read 20 Nov 1854 rather than 1864.? Tenn. Certificate of Death 2010 - Lou Ella Hackett. Died 13 Jan 1944 in Smith Co. Rural 4th District; and was buried 14 Jan 1944 in Dixon Springs, Smith, Tenn; Dixon Springs Cemetery. The certificate states she was 84 years, 6 mos 6 days when died yet says she was born July 7 1858 in DEKALB Co. The headstone dates are 7 July 1858 NOT 1859. I believe 1859 is correct. Subtract 84 from 1944 and you get 1860 so 1859 would be correct year of birth. Anyone else agree with me?? Lou Ella is a widow at time of death and husband listed as Henry Hackett, deceased. Lou Ella listed as d/o William Petty b in NC. and Elizabeth Dunlap b in South Carolina. (Any disagreements re their birth places?) The informant on the certificate is that of Low Hackett of Riddleton. Please let me know if this info is of value to you...if not, I will refrain from putting on the site. (Some have listed her as Lou Etta...I will use Lou Ella). Thanks Melba
Again we have a name to agree upon. Re marriage David L. Cage to Alice V. Hackett. Re 1860 census Virginia A. Re Smith History - Alice We have determined that Alice & Virginia are one and the same person, and she apparently went by both Virginia and Alice. How will we list her? Alice Virginia Hackett Virginia Alice Hackett Thanks Melba
Okay...thanks...but I still am perplexed.... Re Tenn Marriage Henry and Ann applied for license on the 17th Nov 1864 and married on the 20 Nov 1864 (not 19th). IF this Ann and the Ann on the 1860 census with Henry M. are parents of Virginia Alice & James C. Hackett, do we have the right dates on Henry M.?????Ann(Virginia A.) born 20 May 1834, 30 years before H.M. and Ann married???????? Like you and I both state they would have married about 1855-56 re the 1860 census. In Haynie Cem. we have these listed one after the other: Alice D. Haynie 5 Oct 1891 - 3 Nov 1892 H. M. Hackett 1 Oct 1828 - 19 Nov 1906 Mollie E. Hackett 5 Feb 1838 - 12 Feb 1880 w/o H. M. Hackett Elizabeth Haynie 17 Apr 1807 - 28 Apr 1852 (then skip down to) Clarkey A. Hackett 20 May 1834 - 16 Nov 1863 w/o H.M. Hackett (skip again) Milton Haynie 1803 - ______ Elizabeth G. Haynie 11 July 1811______ w/o Milton E. Haynie In Dixon Springs Cem. in Smith we find: Louella Hackett 7 July 1859 - 13 Jan 1944 Maggie Hiett Hackett 26 Aug 1890 - 13 Apr 1969 David Cage Hackett 12 Feb 1885 - 13 Aug 1967 Is the Louella above Louella Petty? This David Cage Hackett belongs to ? (? son of Virginia Alice who md David L. Cage? and is Maggie Hiett his wife??) Re marr of Henry to Louella marriage record has it as July 7 1859 not 1858. hey y'all Have we determined whether the middle name of James C. is CLAY OR CASPER? His death certificate states James Clay. Was he called both? He is listed only as James C. Hackett in cemetery listings. I have found no records calling him J. Casper. On marriage records as J. C. Hackrett (spelled as written) to Mary J. Piper. So how are we going to list this gent? James Clay/Casper Hackett???? Thanks Melba
