Am looking for info on John Stevens born about 1795 in VA. His wifes maiden name was Coleman and I am pretty sure her first name was Almeda. They had six children, Mildred, Penelope, Emma, George, Goodlow, and Frances. I have been able to track all thier children except Emma Stevens (think her first name was actually Louise,or Louisa). What I would like to find is any info on John Stevens, where he is buried, names of siblings or parents. I know it is hard without a middle name to distinguish him by. Any help would be greatly appreciated. George Stevens --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.
I don't know when Silas & Sallie divorced. I know that she married James J. Gregory in 1897 after his 1st wife Polly Brooks Gregory d. June 9, 1895. James had 3 children by his 1st wife one of which was my husband's grandfather. As far as I know Sallie only had the one child that died, with Silas and Vira was the mother of the 3 surviving daughters. Wish I could be of more help. As a result of Charlie Gregory's dedication and the hard work of volunteers who contribute to the site he webmasters, the information is at your fingertips. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tn/smith/census/1820/0039.gif Look on line 33. I have no info on the person you seek, but I agree that learning about life in Smith Co. would be interesting. Maybe the Smith Co. Historical Society would be willing to help us? Maybe I could find out why my clan kept moving back and forth between KY and TN. Good suggestion, thank you. Oops, I tried that link and noticed it didn't work. Just go to www.kindredkonnections.com - then click "Resources" which is the 3rd tab over (near the top), and drop down to "professional genealogists." That will let you search. I know someone asked about this in the last couple of days, so hopefully this will help! Leslie :) -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Leslie W. James Parker listed in the 1830 U.S. Federal Census for Smith County is my ancestor. I need any information anyone can share with me. I know practically nothing about him. Also, if anyone can tell me about how daily life may have been in 1830 in Smith County or suggest any reading on the subject, I would certainly appreciate it. Fran

Thanks Bobby for striating me out on all the Miles and Jesse Wests, Now what about all those Lucy Parkers Ha Ha. Best regards Harold Patterson
From: Vantage Consulting There is more than one Miles West and more than one Jessie West, depending on what dates you are looking for. Hello, Fay, I have 6 people named Miles West and 12 named Jesse West, all of whom including myself, have the same common ancestor. While other people were naming their kids John and William the Elder Miles West and his off-spring were naming their kids Miles and Jesse and it all began in Smith Co. TN about 1808. I have the information you sent but that's not the Miles West I'm looking for. The Miles West I'm looking for died at some point in time between 1850 and 1860. He was listed in the 1850 census and his wife, Nancy, was listed as head of household along with their children in 1860. Thanks for trying to help. Appreciate it. Bobby L. West
