Posted with Charlie's permission Gay Pace Researching Kemp genealogy To all my fellow researchers and friends, If you have not discovered this searchable data base before, take a look at this site on the Atlanta Historical Society website. This is a file of the cemetery records for the 5-6 county area surrounding Atlanta, published originally as the "Necrology" by Frank Garrett . I understand this info was compiled in the 1930s. It is very slick; just plug in a last name in the first slot and a " % " sign in the slot for first names and look at what you are getting! Request feedback on what you think of this site and any new discoveries that you've made within your own genealogy searching. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. http://garrett.atlantahistorycenter.com/glist.php Later, Charlie Kemp, [email protected] Researching Kemp, Bishop, Waits, and Anderson heritage

I read with interest your message regarding your great-great grandmother, MandyWilliams. My great-great grandmother was also a Mandy Williams and I can't find out what her maiden name was. I have my great-grandmother's death certificate which lists Mandy and Henry Williams as her parents, I also cannot find out infomation on Henry. Your information fits somewhat, James H. might be James Henry. I know my great-grandmother had a brother called "Bud". That's all the family names I know. They lived at one time in Red Boiling Springs but probably also lived in Smith or Jackson County. My great-grandmother was Mary Williams Sircy. She married Beverly Sircy in Jackson County, TN, I believe she was born around 1870 and died in 1941.Her mother was Mandy and father Henry Williams. I also wondered about finding that a Henry Williams married an Amanda Pulley on Jan.11,1865. I believe that I also saw records at one time of the McClellan Cemetery and found the name of Amanda Pulley who was supposed to be buried there. You referred to her name as Amanda P. Williams. There is probably no connection but if you find any of this helpful, contact me again, please. -------------- Original message -------------- From: [email protected] > > My deep appreciation to John and Retta Waggoner for photographing and making > accessible the tombstones at the McClellan Cemetery (and to Charlie, the > webhost). > > My great-great-grandmother, Amanda P. Thank you, George and Bill, I will also post to Sumner County. Finding the sales of all the land might give me the clue I need to find more information on these families. Was it still in Smith County or did it become a part of Macon, or Sumner or Trousdale? The deeds I found showing R. G. Briant/Bryant/Brien as the grantee were in Smith County. I have not yet written off to get copies, but I will. There were seven (7) purchases and only three (3) sales of land from 1800-1852 that I have found. In the 1850 census, R. G. is living in Macon County and he dies in 1851. I do not know if his estate was administered or not. The tricky part is that if there was an executor or an administrator, sometimes, the clerk would index a sale under the name of the executor or administrator and not the deceased. Also it is possible that if the land were still in Smith County, the estate could have possibly been probated or administered in Smith County, not Macon County where he died. There is also the question of who legally became R. G.'s children's' guardian. If one was appointed by the courts, then I would presume it was Elisha Steward/Stewart whose wife I believe was R. G.'s sister, Martha Miram Bryant - I found three of his daughters living with the Stewarts in the 1860 Monroe County, KY census. The Stewarts were in Macon County in 1850. I do not know if anyone is interested or can help, but I found these deeds abstracted in a book Compiled by: Thomas E. Amonett researchers... I can add little to your list, but my favorite Aunt and Uncle are listed there. I well remember Aunt Kiney and Uncle John Turner, the parents of my Aunt Jim, who was married to my father's brother Robert Goodall Moore. They had no children and so adopted and spoiled us each chance they got. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have that I can. I still carry the skeleton key from the door to Aunt Jim and Uncle Robert's Nashville home. Karen Moore Waugh Tampa, FL
