    3. The only thing I found in History of Smith County Jim was the mention of his burial in a section on Revolutionary War Veterans buried in Smith Co. Mary ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Fowler" <jim_f4242@yahoo.com> To: <tnsmith@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 14, 2010 6:13 PM Subject: [TNSMITH] Jonathan Faire of Smith County Looking for information on Jonathan Faire (the name is also listed variously as Fair, Fare and Farr) and his family. He served in the Virginia militia in the Revolution and probably moved to North Carolina and Kentucky before coming to Smith County sometime before 1818. He filed for pension about 1818 which was stopped in 1820 then restarted in 1830. He died in 1846 and there is a commemorative stone in the Brush Creek Cemetery. The stone simply that states he was a “RWS VA Militia”. A filing in 1821 indicated he had four young children and an old infirm wife but their names are not mentioned. The only one of his children I have been able to identify is his son Jonathan L. Fare, born about 1807 in Kentucky. This Jonathan married Sarah Kitching and was later in Cannon County and DeKalb County. He died in Davidson County about 1882. He was a lawyer. There is also a Christine Fair buried in the Brush Creek Cemetery who died in 1847. Her stone states she was a “Daughter of RWS” She is probably Jonathan's child but I have no proof. I would appreciate any information on this family. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNSMITH-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

I was born and raised in Davidson County and my paternal ancestors were from Smith County. I use to go to the TSLA when home, but family is gone now. I live in Missouri and have Parkinson's, therefore, no more trips to Tennessee. I have hesitated to request anything from anyone; but the bottom line is I need help....as you go through the index of anything you have for Smith, Macon, or White County, may I impose on you to look for HUDSON. The parents of my ggg grandfather John William HUDSON elude me, and has for forty years. He was born ca. 1796 Campbell County Virginia,? married Nancy Ann Davis ca 1820 in Roane County ?, had seven children, Mary Ann, William Carroll, Elijah Berry, Thomas Allen (my lineage), Martha E., Ennis H., and Don Daniel. John HUDSON died 1849 in White County. I can prove none of this except the Thomas Allen HUDSON lineage from the family Bible. Thanking you in advance. 3. Faith, thank you for the compliment!  My mother said my father named me and I've heard over the years it might mean "Little Goat" which might be appropriate considering my love affair with food :) Here's a link to Google Books which is where I found these books.  I believe there are more: http://books.google.com/ When you get to Google Books, type this: Nollner, Tennessee and it should come up with more books for you.  There were several pages.  After choosing a book you're interested in, If you'll look to the left, you'll see a link called "FIND A LIBRARY" and it will show you a list of libraries in your area who might have the book in their reference section.  Thank you very much! My  mother was Carrie (Mrs James Nollner) and she was very active in the Methodist  Church, both locally, in Carthage and at the Conference level. Do I just go on  Google and type in Tenn Methodist Church? You have a very pretty name, by the way.
