    3. Hello Everyone, I am reposting my WHITE family. William George WHITE born posssibly ?1800 in Scotland. George came to America as a young boy, his father had to sign permission for him to come to America. It is believed he arrived around 1820. I do not know what port. The family story says they were from Wheeling, back then it was Va.(Marshal/Ohio County) In Wheeling he married unknown. I know of one son, William "Alexander" WHITE, born 1825. I have a letter written by Viva W. POAG in 1942 giving some information to this family line. It states they were in Memphis, Tn. by 1840. George's occupation was railroad engineer. He supposedly drove the first train across Ms.? I am searching for which line? By 1853, Alexander WHITE has married Sarah Adeline JONES, d/o M. JONES and Lucinda PERRY, in DeSoto County, Ms. They lived in the area of Days, Ms. Alexander and Sarah had 12 children, 10 of whom I have listed. So there are still 2 I haven't found? It is said that Alexander was often called upon to help decide on court matters, do surveys and other legal jobs. The children were: Nellie Annie m. HUTCHERSON Ellen m. HENLEY Mary m. CARTER Tiny S. C. (female) Dave (located to Ca.) George (Located to Tn.) Jesse Jones m. KELLY/ANDERSON James Wesley m. HENLEY On the 1900 census, Alexander is 75 yrs. old, Sarah is 64, James Westley and Nellie are still at home. The letter from Ms. POAG talks of Alexander and grandmother as being almost godlike to her. So I feel she was one of their grandchildren. The letter is postmarked DeSoto Station, Memphis, Tn. 1942. I recently recieved this letter when I found my mothers first cousins in Missouri. One of them had done a paper on the family when she was in college. She is now in her eighties, and doesn't remember the connection to the family. If anyone out there has a connection to any of these names, please contact me. I have been stuck here. Feel I am close, but this is my brickwall. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Sorry for such a long post. Didn't want to leave anything out that might help connect to it. Thanks for your patience! Debbie Bein ICQ#13139983 Surnames: CARDWELL, WHITE, DAVIS, WALKER, MORGAN, McDONALD, KELLY. My husbands line: BEIN, CALDWELL, SPOHR, NOLAN.
