Does anyone know . Where would a young couple go if they were under age to get married outside there county. Sometime between 1850 & 1853 I have one ancestor who got married and had a child by 1853 in another state . But he Thomas King was 17 in 1850 in Memphis . Memphis county clerk has no record of marriage liscense sooo I am supposing he went to a different county . Phebe was around 7 yrs younger so I suppose also they needed permission by parents . I dont know what the laws were about marriage age THEN , in the south. Does anyone know about tht ? thanks so much sheri
