Some information on land records would be very helpful! My great grandfather bought land in the 1850s that continued to be owned by his descendants until the 1970s. When I wrote to the Shelby Co. Register of Deeds, 160 N. Main St., Suite 850, Memphis, TN 38103, my letter was returned to me with a note, "We do not provide research. M. Andrew." How does one access land records in Shelby County? Any suggestions will be most welcome!
