    3. I've focused most of my previous research on my and my husband's northeast lines, but now I'm ready to tackle the more southerly ancestors. I'm having a little trouble with figuring out where to get started, though. This is what I have: Jacques Lafayette "Jack" Richmond b. 19 Mar 1904, Memphis d. Dec 1969, Memphis m. Alice Emily Kussmaul in either New York or Boston bef 1931 parents: Jack L. Richmond and Effie Taylor The above information is from my his daughter's baptismal certificate and birth certificate, and his Social Security Application. Unfortunately, there is no one to talk to in the family that I know who actually remembers him or knows anything about his background. I also found the following in the death records online for Shelby County: RICHMOND, EFFIE G 4/6/1931 57 YRS F W File# 3278 I'm not sure that she's the right Effie Richmond, though. I've been on the 'net looking for vital records sources, and it seems that I'm out of luck wrt finding a birth record from 1904. The only thing I can think of would be getting the 1910 census. Is there a 1910 census index available for Shelby County? (Since there are 4 CDs for the 1910 Shelby County census, I'd sorta like to narrow it down before I buy one.) With the census info, I might be able to get marriage info on his parents and work back from there. Any other suggestions? Thanks for any help you can offer. Carol Thatcher Hall Kent WA
