Hello, Have guardianship papers for a girl whose father died in Memphis in 1874. Though her mother was still alive the girl had a guardian appointed to manage her inheritance. The amt. of money involved seems to have been small; only $11,000. Was it the norm to assign a guardian to manage a child's finances after the father died? Thank You Cathy
