Could anyone do a lookup in the 1860 Census for my gg-grf, Thomas Perry Ligon? He would have been about 23 years old. There is likely a brother, Fabius Ligon, age 21 living in TN also. No idea where they would be living, but both joined Infantry in TN. Information on both is requested. Thank you! Jonnie in SC
Would anyone have any information on James Bingham Murray who was born 1805 in Scotland and married an Eliza Ann Wright about June 16, 1842 in Memphis? Any information on Murray, Wright, Cloyd, Trantham, Bryant would be greatly appreciated. I have photocopies of an old Wright family Bible mentioning these names I would like to share with someone. W. >From _Gravestone Inscriptions from Shelby County Cemeteries_ (I think this is V. 1, but that's cut off my photocopy), p. 266: Wherry Cemetery Visited May 17, 1970. This cemetery is located about a half mile behind Chambers Methodist Church which is on Chambers Chapel Road. It may be reached by a dirt road that begins a few hundred feet south of Chambers Methodist Church and wanders back through fields and woodland. The cemetery is located at the end of the dirt road. It is fenced and appeared to have been cut over during the previous year. End of quoted material. My kin in that cemetery -- the various Lemons, the Lynns, the Wherrys, and all the Wylies. My second great grandparents, Lewis and Catherine Wylie are buried there, along with some of his brothers and sisters and their descendants. Please ask your researcher to pay my respects to my family as well. I have relatives buried in that cemetery. I'll have a look at my records and see if I have directions. If not, my dad used to visit there as a child and young man, and I'll ask him. Lynn Laster may also know, since he's also got kin buried there. Thanks so much for any help you can give < You can visit the Memphis Library's website and see if they are listed. Once there, go under departments and then archives. Do you have a date of death? It would be a lot easier if you do. You can e-mail the libary from the website. I know that they have Shelby County Death Registers and some registers from Funeral Homes in their archives. The web address is www.memphislibrary.lib.tn.us Good luck! Mary

Hi everyone, Just a small note. I received a message that was kicked back earlier today because of html formating. Rootsweb servers will not accept html formating. Below is a small portion of the email I received from Rootsweb regarding the html issue. We've had to institute this policy because of the problems that accompany these fancy mail formats. Some people don't have mail programs that are capable of processing the special file formats. Even among those who do, different mail programs handle these special formats in very different and confusing ways. HTML messages pose special problems to our digested mailing lists. Most of all, HTML-ified mail and attachments place a considerable burden on RootsWeb's overworked machines. All in all, mail in this format produces a lot of problems for RootsWeb's servers and subscribers, so we find it's best just to use plain text. Thanks, Rhonda Schurhamer
