Hi, Elizabeth. I don't own the books (there are 3 volumes), but I am close to two libraries which do. What do you need? Susan G. Susan, there is a Holiday Inn Express on Hwy 64,close to TN Genealogy Assoc at Davies Plantation and there are numerous other new ones in the are....Amerisuites, Hampton Inn on G'twn Pkwy at 64, and probably 6 more. I'm just across the i/state from HI Express in Countrywood. My Inn is full at the present time or I would invite you to stay with me! I'm assuming that you are kin to Sam Wilson of Arlington....right? I met them many years ago at Sissy (I can't think of her last name now!) antique store at Gallway. You'll be surpprised at how the area has grown...it's not country anymore...much to my regret. Bobbie
I'm planning a run to Arlington/Brunswick later in the week, and know that I've seen a motel/hotel on I-40 in that general area, but I can't remember which and exactly where. Anyone know, or have recommendations for a place to stay for a couple of nights? I'd rather not go into Memphis, and I'm a woman traveling alone, so I prefer something that's not, well, sleazy. Gussie CLOYD of Memphis Tennessee married 1880 in Brooklyn, New York to Capt. Jabez Bunting SCOTT, a widower of Nova Scotia. Wish to compare notes with others interested in those people. Re your post on Taylor's in Memphis. There were several Taylor's that died in the 1878 Yellow Fever epidemic. I will be glad to look them up for you if you have any specific names. There was a Joe Taylor that died at City Hospital. Bobbie
Hello to everyone, I am doing research on my husband's family and I have hit a snag. His great-grandfather, JOSEPH BAILEY TAYLOR, was raised by a gentleman named VIRGIL ROLLINS. Joseph's parents died in the flu epidemic that hit Memphis in the late 1870's. I am trying to find out their names. Family members think his fathers name may have been Alfred but they are not sure. Joseph raised his family in Henderson County near Scotts Hill and that is where our family is still located. My father-in-law, Jerry Taylor, ran a cotton gin at Taylor's crossing for many years. If anyone could help me with any information, I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe some of the Virgil Rollins family knows something. I have the 1850 ALL COUNTIES TN census book. I can do lookups but must have SOME additional info, i. e., age, approx age, siblings, father or mother's name, county, in order to do through lookup as book is only indexed by head of household. If it's a common name like Smith, Johnson, Stewart, etc., I'll need all the info I can get in order to help you. Bring on the requests as I ready!! Glenda
Is there anyone that would do a look-up on the 1870 census? I am trying to find a A. FRANKLIN DENNIS or just FRANKLIN DENNIS born 1840 or 41. He was nine years ols in 1850 and 20 years old in 1860. In 1860 he was living with a JOHN F. DENNIS and his wife FANNIE in GERMANTOWN. ( This was not his father; his father had just died in Fayette Counyt.) In 1870 he could be married and on his own. I don't know his wife's name.. Please, any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you again, Elizabeth wardlow@juno.com Daytona Beach

For those that are interested in the genealogy of the Taliaferro family, I have recently published my Dad's book "the Taliaferro Family - Three Centuries In America." He wrote the book after 43 years of research. He passed away in 1995, before it was published. If you would like more information, please visit my website at http://www.assentweb.com/taliaferro Thank you very much.
Does anyone have any information about the Old Salem Presbyterian Church in Shelby County. In particular, Roderick or Duncan McIver or Susan Todd McIver or Ann McIver? Thank you. Sarah
The following was on the Rootsweb's "Missing Links" e-mail that I receive weekly. Though I'd pass it on to the Shelby Co list in case someone is doing research on this surname. To obtain pic or add'l info, you would need to contact the submitter shown at the end of the article. Glenda + + + + + + + At a New Orleans estate sale, I came across three lovely cabinet cards, or albumen prints, of a beautiful male child. These pictures were taken in Memphis, Tennessee. The youngest looking photo is identified on back as "Sydney B. DODDS, age 1 yr & 2 mos. - Return to Mrs. A. B. Dodds, Clarksdale, Mississippi." The other two show the same boy a little older -- one says "S. B. Dodds -- Aunt Sallie and Uncle George, 2 yrs, 2 mos.," and the other says "Sydney Baltzer Dodds -- age 2 yrs, 2 mos." I would like to see these reach a descendant or family member. Lynda Moreau dustbuny@ix.netcom.com>

Can anyone on the list tell me how to go about getting the history of a church in Memphis called, "Old Riverside Baptist Church"? It is located on Mitchell Road near Horn Lake Road. Where would I start to do this? Our entire family attended this church some years ago. My uncle, Hezekiah Gooch, was the founder and pastor of this church and the history of it plays an important role in my family search. Some of the members of the congregation left the church, and then formed the "New Riverside Baptist Church" over some issues which the membership could not agree on. I would appreciate any help in getting this information.......Thanks Lillie Fort California
Someone recently asked a question about Hickory Withe. I don't know if you found what you were looking for, and I don't know if this will help, but I just stumbled across this website while trying to figure out where the school is my son's playing football at tonight! :-) Good luck and hope this helps.
