Can anyone tell me the address of the Church located across from AB Hill Elementary School on Olive St., Memphis, TN. I last knew it to be a Pentecostal Church in the early 1950s. Should be located very near Latham St. on Olive St. maybe on north side of AB Hill School. I was Baptized there as a child and am interested whether they have kept those records all these years. Along the same lines, I am the historian for the Normal Station Neighborhood Association (area bounded by Southern, Goodlett, Park and Highland Avenues). We have a small abandoned cemetery within our neighborhood, and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas where to look for burial records from the 1800s for this cemetery. It is known with some certainty that there are slave burials in the back of the cemetery, and I have been told there was a church on the property in the 19th century, but have not been able to track that lead down at all. Steve, There is a section in Elmwood Cemetery for Civil War veterans. I believe it is called Confederates' Rest. You can find a link to it on the TnGenWeb site (look under the tombstone transcription project.....I believe that is where it is). Good Luck

In my great-grandaunt notes she wrote that my GGG-grandfather, Henry Alwes, was buried in Memphis and is buried in the "veterans cemetery". I called the Memphis National Cemetery and they didn't have him listed.
