    3. Hi Everyone, These are some Sevier Co., TN links that might be of interest. Sevier Co., TN Library - http://www.sevierlibrary.org/ or http://www.sevierlibrary.org/genealogy/aclinks.html Sevier Co., TN Cemetery Registration - http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/tennessee/sevier.html Revolutionary War Soldiers Buried in Sevier County - http://johnsevierchapter.tripod.com/SCRV.html Sevier Co., TN Genealogy & History - http://www.tngenweb.org/sevier/ Sevier Co., Tennessee USGenWeb Archives Digital Library - http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tn/sevier.htm Tennessee State Library and Archives Historical and Genealogical Information (Sevier Co., TN) - http://www.state.tn.us/sos/statelib/pubsvs/bibsevie.htm A maillist subscriber asked me, Is there any writing that shows "how things were" or "how we lived" from the 1830's on? I was just wondering if there was anyone who had any Sevier Co., TN historical stories about their ancestors that they might be willing to share with the maillist? Perhaps these might be stories that your grandparents or ggrandparents, etc passed down to you that might reveal information about the people who lived in Sevier Co., TN. If you could ask one of your Sevier Co., TN ancestors one question, what would it be? Which Sevier Co., TN ancestor was your favorite and why? I would like to learn more about Sevier Co., TN as everyone does that is subscribed to this maillist so if there is anything you can share, please do. :-)) Thanks, Mike ************************* Michael G. 1. [TN-Sevier] Re: My Sevier County Mysteries
    2. Chrystie
    3. Hi all! Maybe someone out here can help, maybe not. My apologies for taking up the airwave. I wasn't raised with my dad or his people, the MYERS HUSKEY'S, thou I grewup hearing many stories from my father's sisters and how their father, my grandfather, was not well liked in Sevier County. Here tell he was a bit of a bully. He's gone now and respectfully speaking, I didn't really know him. Met him once eons ago. I'm in my 40's. We'll leave it at that. Let's just say I'm indifferent (gulp) ;) His sisters are very nice people and they still live in and around Sevierville. I try to call them when money allows and would love to meet them but if you thought my fear of flying was bad before 9/11 well... So, here is my lineage for whatever it's worth. Oh, and my aunts names are as follows (wonderful ladies) Edna THOMAS. I belive she died earlier this year, married to Ivory. Lucille, also gone now. She was m. to Ode ADAMS. Iva m. to Daniel HURST. Tate, gone too, m. to Martha "Mattie" TRENTHAM. They had a son named Clyde Jessie, m. to Victor "Elmer" MARSHALL. I believe she's gone now too. Evelyn m. to English MCCARTER. Georgia m. to Richard Dick MCNABB. And Stella.. I know nothing on her. She might have died young. Godspeed to all... Chrystie MYERS (me), dau of Thomas Andrew MYERS of Hiawasse, Towns County, GA. Thomas, son of Ollie Jake MYERS b. 1905 in Little Cove, Sevier Co., TN. He was married to his 1st cousin, Anna Lela MARINE before he married my blood grandmother Sara (BRADSHAW) GARRETT. I don't know if Anna and Ollie had any children or not... I assume, because they married at abt the age of 14 that maybe its so... but it's just an assumption since I can't seem to find anything out on her. Old Ollie was hell on wheels. This is what I'm told. Quite frankly, I didn't like him the 1 and only time I met him so I can't blame anyone for not rememebing anything nice abt him either. I've always been afraid that because no one in Sevier County liked him, that maybe doors would be closed to me and I've found that many of my letters w/checks are ignored but I try to not take it personal - maybe they're busy. I was raised in Maryland by my maternal grandparents. They were from West VA. They were very nice good people and I thank god everyday they raised me because they taught me good values. So if anyone did know old Ollie, try not to hold it against me. Geez, was that embarrassing ;) Ollie Jake MYERS, son of Andrew Jackson MYERS a.k.a. "Little Andy" MYERS & Hettie HUSKEY. Now here's a few good ones for ya's. Little Andy was a sheriff of sorts. Can't find any documentation to prove this, but it's familylore. He arrested one of his brothers or cousins (can't remember now) for moonshining and chain locked him to a tree till he could get a horse and take him in to town. Little Andy and Hettie had a farm called "The Ponderosa". It was a campground (after they died). I believe it's now private property. After Andy died, Hettie moved into Sevierville (town). I have a photo of her as a little girl. She looks Indian. Her father is unknown to me and because my grandfather was removed from his Sevier County "kin" my dad's sisters do not know who he was. It's rumored it was a WALKER but it's just speculation at this point. Hettie reportedly had a sister named Ticy/Tysie. She might be the one in the census that married a John TROTER. Can't find anything substantial on her either except that she was born Feb. 1884 in Wears Valley. Elizabeth must have married eventually, because Hettie grewup close w/a half brother WALKER. Harve Sr. I believe. Andrew J. Little Andy MYERS is buried at Hendricks Cemetery. Hettie is reportedly buried at Mattox. Have not found anything in writing to proof this one though - just family knowledge. There have been rumors that maybe Hettie's mother, Elizabeth "Betty" HUSKEY was raped - beats me. Til I get the money to travel down to Sevierville, I might never know. Someday, someday... ;) All I ever find is a Martha HUSKEY marrying John Frank WALKER and I do have a Martha as sister to Elizabeth. And eternal thankfulness and gratefullness for a man in Sevier that (3 years ago) sent me copies of his HUSKEY files. Thank you sir, if you're out here. He also sent me photos of Big Andy MYERS. It didn't go unforgotten, ever. Elizabeth and Martha HUSKEY were the children of Lewis HUSKEY b 1834 and Hulda T. HATCHER b 1840 both in Sevier. Lewis fought in the Civil War Company H, 9th Division. From census records it's obvious that Hettie and Ticy grewup in their household. They too are buried at Mattox Cemetery along with Elizabeth Betty. Lewis HUSKEY was the son of John Lewis HUSKEY & Rebecca Elizabeth HATCHER. Hulda T. HATCHER, dau of Reuben HATCHER & Martha MCGILL. Andrew J. MYERS, son of Pleasant Andrew MYERS and Sara Jane MCCLURE Pleas, son of James Napleon "NJ" MYERS (seen as MYRES in the census) & Margarett Caroline LINDSEY. Margarett stems from the ROBERTS EMERT lines. James and Margarett had 11 children. *Why the double "tt s' at the end is beyond me. Always shows in the census, though. James son of Sam LOL. I think this is where my line came in from Mars. Napoleon is total speculation. The only proof of any James in the area was in Suzannah MOYERS a.k.a. Susan MYERS household 1840 and 1850 Jefferson County, TN showing a James age 1 1/2 in 1840 and 11 in 1850. He and Margarett lived in Sevier County most of their lives. After 1894 when James died, reportedly on his son Andrew Jackson "Big Andy's" farm, 2 miles east of Little Cove Church, Margaret remarried to 2) Noah HAWORTH & 3) Rev. Evan HURST. Both Evan and Margarett are buried at HURST Chapel. James Napoleon, whom went by Napoleon, was a Baptist Minister, Circuit Rider, for the old Holly Springs Primitive Baptist Church, later Little Cove. A few associated surnames: HENDRIX/HEADRICKS CHAMBERS EVERHART LOWE PILAF MARINE GREENE ENGLAND COOPER MCCARTER MCNABB FRYE CARDWELL FRANCHIER CLABO HUFF MCKELDER TRENTHAM MCCOLLUM MCFALL THOMAS ADAMS mostly my ggg and gg's children's spouses. *NOTE: I can't find anything on old Holly Springs area... does anyone have any good reading materal they could refer me to on Little Cove, as well? Thanks all - sorry for taking up the airwaves. Chrystie MYERS
