Latham was the daughter of my GGGrandfather John L.(Jack) Latham and Lucinda Catherine Sing married on 31 Aug 1863 in Sevier Co. by JA Pickens JP. Their children were John Henry, Biddy( is my guess as she is listed in 1870 and 1880 census as Buda and Bedel), Malinda Elizabeth, William, Catherine, Benjamin Thomas (my GGrandfather), Jackson, and Alfred. Catherine and James married 19 Nov 1894 in Sevier Co. by JA Pickens JP. My GGrandfather Tom lived in Sevier County until his father and mother died and moved to Loudon County, TN. sometime between 1916 and 1920. My Grandfather had never seen a car until they moved from Seveir County. 1900 Census shows James and Catherine with 2 children Nora E., and Pearly. 1920 Census shows them with 6 more children, Lee, Minnie, Wiley, Lawrence, Jack Burton, and Joe. Hope this info is helpful. John born Jan 1, 1832 and died April 8, 1915. Lucinda born 1847 and died 1916. Buried at Ellejoy Cemetery in Blount County.

Dorothy Kelly, who is the guest speaker at the Sevier County Heritage Museum on Sunday, January 27, at 1:30 p.m., has given me more information about her topic. She will discuss the Battle of Fair Garden, Longstreet's campaign through the area, and the Strawberry Plains Bridge Burners -- most of whom were from Sevier County. The Bridge Burners are a favorite topic among Civil War historians in this area. Ms. Kelly will have handouts available for the audience members to continue research on these subjects. We hope to see you there!

Info that I have on Vincent is that his parents are: William Latham born July 10, 1827 and died May 10, 1891 and is buried in the Ellejoy Church Cemetery in Blount County, and William's first wife Zilpha Rogers born Jan 28, 1819 and died April 7 1864 and is also buried at Ellejoy. They were married Sept 4, 1849 in Blount County, TN by John Tipton JP. The 1860 Sevier Co., TN Census show them with 4 children, Mary age 9, Vincent age 8, John age 5, and Elizabeth age 3. Family lore has it that these are our cousins. I have not found a firm link with my GGGGF John Latham of Blount Co. Tenn. and William. John is listed in the 1840 census with the right number of children. Sarah Latham age 20 to 30 had a son who was 10-15 years of age. This was probably William Latham. I don't know of a connection but Sarah was probably married to John's brother and Mary who was 60-70 years old was probably the matriarch of the family. Anyway, hope this helps. Gary L. Harvey
In October 1796, Adam Fox was appointed a captain of the Sevier County militia. This was shortly after Tennessee obtained statehood. This record is included in "In the Tenn. Militia, 1796-1811". The compiler of this list mistakenly reported the name as Adam Fost. Fox written in the old time script does appear to read Fost. There was no one in Sevier County by the name of Adam Fost at that time. Dick D. Fox NEW Email Address fox7@austin.rr.com http://members.tripod.com/~dickdfox/index-dickdfox.html

However, (Sorry all surnames are CLOSED Now) Contact Carl at <CousinsCom2@hotmail.com> or Terri at <CousinsCom1@hotmail.com>. All we ask is that you be willing to act as host or hostess/greeter for your surname and to share whatever info you have available. To those of you with East TN roots who don't have much extended family and therefore don't have a reunion, this is your chance to bring your immediate family members and join ours. We want everyone to have fun, feel welcomed, and enjoy themselves. **That's What Tennessee Stands For: THE VOLUNTEER STATE ** "Where pride walks and the flag flies!"** We know that we have some college instructors attending who perhaps can be persuaded to speak. Drinks, ice chest 5. A chair or blanket to sit on...If you are serving as a host or hostess, you will also need a small table (card table size or larger) to display your family information on. -------------------------- Last year was our first attempt to pull all these early settlers' descendants together. As far as we knew, it had never been attempted before. It was a resounding success for a first attempt, and it was agreed that it should become an annual event. This area is so very rich in history, both as an Indian frontier and as an isolated jewel of Union sympathy during the Civil War. It also served as a departure point for westward movement and new settlement. Our ancestors left us a rich heritage, which we are striving to preserve and pass on to our children and grandchildren. This rich tapestry of ideals and values is what made us a great nation and what made each of us what we are today. And it began with our earliest immigrant ancestors who came here to start a new life and a new country. COME and SHARE that heritage with us on July 13-14. We are looking forward to making many new friends!! Sincerely, Terri Brown Jurca: <CousinsCom1@hotmail.com>, 5509 Paula Rd., Knoxville, Tn 37912 Carl Coffman: <CousinsCom2@hotmail.com> 1448 S.
