    2. >From The Knoxville News Sentinel 31 May 2003 MILTON, JOHN EARL - age 57 of Duff, RAGAIN, JAMES - age 83 of LaFollette, WINTER, RICHARD EUGENE - age 71, of LaFollette, ===================================== MILTON, JOHN EARL - age 57 of 874 Duff Road, Duff, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2003 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of the Stanfield Church of God. John was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by son, Kevin Earl Milton and parents, Earl and Betty Lou Smith Milton. Mr. Milton is survived by wife, Patsy Milton of Duff; sister, Mary "Boots" Milton of Knoxville; sister and brother in law, Pat and Gary Ray of Duff; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday, May 31 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Ray and Rev. Kenny William Cox officiating. Interment will be 12 noon Sunday in Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. before funeral services Saturday. Martin Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. RAGAIN, JAMES - age 83 of 115 Colonial Heights, LaFollette, passed away Friday, May 30, 2003 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Mr. Ragain was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a WW II Navy veteran and participated in the invasion of Okinawia. He retired with 37 years of service with BellSouth and was a member of Jacksboro Masonic Lodge #322 F&AM. Mr. Ragain played on the Knoxville High School National Football Team in 1937. He was preceded in death by wife, Doris Sowder Ragain; son, Mark Christopher Ragain; parents, Lonnie and Lillian Turner Ragain; sisters, Mamie and Lucille Ragain; son in law, Robert Cox. Mr. Ragain is survived by son and daughter in law, US Navy Captain James C., II and Debbie Ragain of Chicago, Ill.; daughters and sons in law, Verda Ann and Joe Rogers of Powell, Jana and Geoff Whedbee of LaFollette; daughter, Judith Cox of Morristown; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren; sister, Francis Morris of Monterey, Calif. and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at the Hillcrest Baptist with Rev. Bill Edmons officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Campbell Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. before funeral services Saturday at the church. Martin Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. WINTER, RICHARD EUGENE - age 71, of LaFollette, formerly of North Carolina, passed away Friday, May 30, at his home. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, South Campbell County Rotary Club, Campbell County Senior Citizen and volunteer for Campbell County Historical Society. Mr. Winter was a 32 year employee with Hoover Company in North Canton, Ohio. Preceded in death by parents Howard Lindsey and Lula Octovia Winter; brothers, Ralph, Leonard and Donald Winter and sisters, Ruth Oralea Winter and Hazel Shook. Survivors: wife, Delphia Etter Winter, LaFollette; brothers, Clarence A. Winter, Hickory, NC, Thomas Emmitt Winter, Bakersville, NC; sister, Carol Ollis, Morganton, NC. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday June 1, at Cross Funeral Home. Mr. Winter will be taken to Catawba Funeral Home in Hickory, NC Monday, June 2 where the family will receive friends Monday night from 6- 8 p.m. Funeral service 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Hwy. 27 North Hickory, NC with Jack C. Etter officiating. Interment will be in White Pine Cemetery, Crossnore, NC.
