Burbage, 74, of Oak Ridge, Marian Lucille Miracle, 59, of Oak Ridge, ===================================== James Taylor Barker, 77, of Oak Ridge, died of congestive heart failure Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at his home. Born Aug. 10, 1925, on the family farm in the Claxton Community in McMinn County, he was the son of James Arthur and Viola Shamlin Barker, both now deceased. He started working for Tennessee Eastman in 1944 in the Isotope Separation Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory located at the Y-12 Plant. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1944 to 1945 during World War II. He retired from Union Carbide Nuclear Division in 1982 after 37 years of service, where he worked as a chemist in the Isotope Separation Division. He also worked as sales manager for Trico Motor Co. and Fox Oldsmobile for many years. He and his wife, Edna Droke Barker, by whom he is survived, were married in 1943. His family says he loved golfing and was an avid golfer at the Oak Ridge Country Club and Centennial Golf course. In recent years he was a ranger and a starter at Centennial Golf Course. He loved gospel music and enjoyed going to gospel performances. He was a member of Double-Springs Baptist Church in the Claxton Community. His family said he loved his family, was a wonderful husband and father, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Leslie Barker, Lee Barker, Charles Arthur Barker, Esta Lee Barker and Ruth Barker Blankenship, and by two brothers-in-law, Newt Riden and W.J. Dilbeck. In addition to his wife of 59 years, Mr. Barker is survived by three children, Janice Barker and husband, Rex, of Ten Mile, Terry A. Barker and wife, Kaye, of Chapel Hill, N.C., and J. Richard Barker and wife, Martha, of Oak Ridge; and four grandchildren, Jason Barker and Clay Barker, both of Chapel Hill, and Lindsey Barker and Greg Barker, both of Oak Ridge. He is also survived by six sisters, Flora Barker Teague and husband, Charles, Mildred Barker Riden, Minnie Barker Dilbeck, Violet Barker Rogers and husband, Charles, Alice Barker Weaver, and Agnes Barker Dixon and husband, Austin; two sisters-in-law, Maude Barker and Esta Lee Barker; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve McDonald, minister of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Road, Knoxville, TN 37909. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Gladys Thelma Stout, 83, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Farragut Health Care Center. Born Jan. 20, 1920, in Athens, she was the daughter of Peeler and Berdie Witt, both now deceased. She was the widow of Alvin Boyd Stout. She was a homemaker and a member of Robertsville Baptist Church. Mrs. Stout is survived by her daughter, Joy Stout of Burbank, Calif.; three brothers and two sisters, Gene Witt, Bo Witt and Dorthy Saffell, all of Etowah, and Calvin Witt and Allie Barker, both of Detroit, Mich.; two grandchildren, Bridgette King of Burbank and Jeffrey Alan King of Chatsworth, Calif.; and by a great-grandson, Shawn Christopher King of Chatsworth. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, with the Rev. Michael Prince officiating. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Myrtle B. Burbage, 74, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge.
