    2. >From The Knoxville News Sentinel 14 May 2003 BARKER, JAMES TAYLOR - age 77, of Oak Ridge, WALDROP, MRS. SUSIE W. - age 84, of Petros, ===================================== BARKER, JAMES TAYLOR - age 77, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at home. He was born August 10, 1925 on the family farm located in the Claxton Community in McMinn County, Tennessee, to James Arthur Barker and Viola Shamlin Barker. He married Edna Droke in 1943. He started working for Tennessee Eastman in 1944, in the Isotope Separation Division of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory located at the Y-12 Plant. He served in the Marine Corps from 1944-1945 during World War II. He retired from Union Carbide in 1982, as a Chemist in the Isotope Separation Division, after 37 years of service. He also worked as Sales Manager for Trico Motor Company and Fox Oldsmobile for many years. He loved golfing and was an avid golfer at the Oak Ridge Country Club and Centennial Golf Course. In recent years, he was a Ranger and a Starter at Centennial Golf Course. He loved Gospel music and enjoyed going to gospel performances. He loved his family and was a wonderful husband and father. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a member of Double-Springs Baptist Church in the Claxton Community of McMinn County. The family will receive friends at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home, located at 1017 Oak Ridge Turnpike in Oak Ridge from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, May 15. The funeral will begin at 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The Reverend Steve McDonald of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edna Droke Barker; children, Janice Barker Moody and husband, Rex of Ten Mile, Tennessee, Terry A. Barker and wife, Kaye Barker of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, J. Richard Barker and wife, Martha of Oak Ridge; four grandchildren, Jason Barker, Clay Barker of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Lindsey Barker and Greg Barker of Oak Ridge; sisters, Flora Barker Teague and husband, Charles Teague, Mildred Barker Riden and husband, Newt Riden (deceased), Minnie Barker Dilbeck and husband, W. J. Dilbeck (deceased), Violet Barker Rogers and husband, Charles Rogers, Alice Barker Weaver, Agnes Barker Dixon and husband, Austin Dixon; two sisters-in-law, Maude Barker and Esta Lee Barker, and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, James Arthur Barker and mother, Viola Barker; brothers, Leslie Barker, Lee Barker, and Charles Arthur Barker; sisters, Nellie Faye Barker and Ruth Barker Blankenship. SUSIE W. - age 84, of Petros, passed away Monday, May 12, 2003, in the Lifecare Center of Morgan County. She was a member of Petros Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Waldrop; daughter, Peggy Casteel; two sisters and three half-brothers. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Ray Jordan, Carolyn and Bob Dodge, Paula and Allen Freytag, Janie and Roger Harney, Pamela and Wayne Woods, Shawnie and Jerry Hooper; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Goldie Aydelotte. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, May 4, 2003, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 8:30 p.m. with Rev. Tommy Hensley officiating.
