    2. >From The Knoxville News Sentinel 24 May 2003 JACKSON, CLYDE MAXWELL "MAX" - age 84, of Harriman KENNEDY, KENNETH HUGH - age 42, of Andersonville, MYERS, LEROY - age 62, of Oak Ridge, ===================================== JACKSON, CLYDE MAXWELL "MAX" - age 84, a resident of Harriman passed away Thursday, May 22, 2003 at Harriman Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, John Columbus Jackson and Susan Jones Jackson; by his wife, Mary C. Jackson; by a sister, Pauline Jackson; and by a niece, Emma Whaley. Mr. Jackson was born March 12, 1919 in the Back Valley Community of Coalfield. He resided in Roane County for most of his life. For the last four years, he was a resident of Harriman Care and Rehabilitation. He enjoyed all of the activities at the facility and loved to visit with his friends. One of his favorite activities was listening to Tommy Hardin sing to the residents. Mr. Jackson was a U. S. Army veteran, serving his country during WW II. He was at the Invasion of Normandy, and then served in the European theater in France and Germany. He was awarded the Silver Star with a bronze arrowhead for gallantry in action. Survivors: daughter, Brenda Stringer, and husband, Mark, of Midtown; son, Brad Jackson and wife, Susie, of Madisonville, KY; granddaughter, Katie Stringer of Midtown; stepdaughter, Ann Lay of Totz, KY; sister, Lois Mahoney of Oliver Springs; nieces, Caroline and husband, Julian, Judy and husband, Lynn; nephews, Howard Mahoney and wife, Carol, of Georgia; great-nieces and nephews, Katherine Whaley, Tim Duncan, Glenda and Dan Cloutier, Paulette and John Higgenbottom, Mark Stein, Jim and Joan Stein, Jay and Jen Stein, and Howard Jr. and Debra Mahoney; special nephew-in-law, Leo Whaley of Oliver Springs, who was also considered a special friend; Joseph Kata was his roommate at the Rehabilitation Center and considered a special friend. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 24, 2003 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Burial and graveside services will be held Sunday, May 25, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jackson Cemetery of Coalfield, with Reverend Michael M. Miller officiating. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. KENNEDY, KENNETH HUGH - age 42, of Andersonville, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2003, at his residence. He was born July 5, 1960, in Anderson County. Survivors: father, Hugh and Kay Kennedy of Clinton; mother, Sandra Brown and husband, Gerald of Boca Raton, Florida; sister, Beverly Brown and husband, Jimmy of Austin, Texas; grandmother, Dot Walker of Oak Ridge. Special Friend, Linda Kirby of Powell, several aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. Memorial service will be held at later date by the family. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, of Clinton, in charge of all 0arrangements. MYERS, LEROY - age 62, of Oak Ridge, died at the Methodist Medical Center on Thursday, May 22, 2003. Born on April 2, 1941, in Alcoa, Tenn. to parents Hubert and Nina Minton Myers. Mr. Myers worked for Ridge Leasing Company as a truckdriver and was of Baptist faith. Survivors include wife, Elsie Reasoner Myers of Oak Ridge; son, Leroy Myers, Jr. of Oak Ridge; step-son, Frederick Carney of Joelton, Tenn.; daughter, Ester Irene Stembridge and husband, Anthony of Joelton, Tenn.; step-daughters, Sandy Ragsdale and Tammy Carney of Nashville, Tenn.; brother, Charles Henry Myers of Oliver Springs; half-brother, Verlin Taylor of Clinton; sisters, Carolyn Greer of Morristown, Tenn., Dorothy Lemons of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, seven step- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at the Anderson and Garrett Chapel in Joelton, Tenn. on Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m., with interment in the Reasoner Cemetery in Goodlettsville.
