FAYE - age 72 of the Joyner Community McGHEE, JOHN - age 81, of Oak Ridge, SWANN, LOUISE - age 88 of Oak Ridge, ===================================== BOWLIN, PERRY LEE - age 60 of Jellico, Tenn. passed away Thursday, May 8, 2003 at his home. He was a member of Crouches Creek Baptist Church. Preceded in death by: parents, Troy Bowlin and Goldie (Oaks) Bowlin. He is survived by: wife, Linda Bowlin of Jellico, Tenn.; 2 sons, Jerry Bowlin and wife, Leighann of Jellico, Tenn., Bobby Bowlin of Jellico, Tenn.; 2 daughters, Leann Mozingo and husband, Wayne of Jellico, Tenn., Teresa Bowlin of Jellico, Tenn.; 3 grandchildren, Brent Mozingo, Austin Bowlin and Ryan Irwin; 3 brothers, W.H. Bowlin and wife, Nancy of Jellico, Tenn., Billy Bowlin and wife, Faye of Jellico, Tenn., Jerome Bowlin and wife, Ruth Ann of Lot, Ky.; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services 8 p.m. Saturday May 10, 2003 at Harp Funeral Home Chapel Rev. Carl Edwards and Rev. Ellis Hoskins officiating. Burial 2 p.m. Sunday May 11, 2003 at Bowlin Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Harp Funeral Home of Jellico, Tenn. in charge of arrangements. JOYCE, EUGENE LAWRENCE - age 85, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Gene was born on December 22, 1917 in Kingston, NY, son of the late James A. Joyce and Pauline O'Neill Joyce. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Air Force and the Army Signal Corp. He graduated UT College of Law in 1951 and joined the late U.S. District Judge Frank W. Wilson to practice law in Oak Ridge. In 1957, Justice E. Riley Anderson, joined their practice. Gene continued practicing with the Law Firm of Joyce, Meredith, Flitcroft & Normand, until the time of his death. Gene was known as a lawyer's lawyer and a leader among leaders. He was a Rotarian and he received numerous honors and held many distinguished positions throughout his years, including: Founding Board Member of Bell South Corp; Chairman of the Bank of Oak Ridge and UT Research Council; Board Member of South Central Bell Corp., 1982 World's Fair, and Channel Two; Past President of UT Chancellors Associates; Oak Ridge Chamber awards the "Eugene L. Joyce Distinguished Service Award" annually; Pellissippi State Foundation and 6 area Chambers named him the "Valley Visionary"; he was admitted to the Knoxville Business Hall of Fame; he was past Anderson County Attorney; State of Tennessee declared Eugene L. Joyce Day. Mr. Joyce is survived by the light of his life, his wife and best friend of twenty-five years, Vivian McKenzie Joyce; his daughters: Lisa Irish Joyce of Nashville and Lori Joyce Lynn of Marlow; his sons: Steve Normand of Kingston, Dan Normand, Jim Normand and his wife Mary of Oak Ridge; his sister Rosalind Liberti and husband Jerry of NY; 7 grandchildren, Michael Joseph, Bryan Lynn, Dana Lynn, James Normand, Jake Normand, Stephanie Crudup-Normand and Elliott Normand; his niece Rose Marie Leone and husband Gary of Fl; and he was preceded by his brother Leo Joyce of NY. He was previously married to Mary Margaret Joyce. Mr. Joyce was cremated and his ashes will be interred later. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be contributions to Methodist Medical Foundation, PO Box 2529, Oak Ridge, TN, the Boys Club of Oak Ridge, PO Box 4021, Oak Ridge, TN 37831 or to a charity of choice in Mr. Joyce's name. The family will host a a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life on May 12th at 6:00 at the Oak Ridge Mall Cumberland Room. Weatherford Mortuary, of Oak Ridge, is assisting with arrangements. LEOPPER, MRS. FAYE - age 72 of the Joyner Community, passed away Friday May 9th, in the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Leopper; parents, Vane and Amy Knight Lamance; father in law, and mother in law, George and Vinalene Leopper. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Henry Leopper; daughter and son in law, Joan and Charles Hamby, Wartburg; granddaughters, Misha and husband, Terry Vespie of Wartburg and Jocelyn Hamby of Wartburg; two great granddaughters, Felicia Decker and Brandi Vespie; brothers and sisters in law, Dan and Debbie Lamance of Lancing, Ralph and Wanda Lamance of Wartburg; sister, Geneva Goddard of Atlanta, Ga.; sister in law, Anna Mae Marlow and husband, William of the Joyner Community. The family will receive friends Sunday May 11th from 6-8 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church with funeral services to follow with Rev. Mark Caldwell and Rev. David Kunsman officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday 11 a.m. Union Cemetery, Joyner Community. Schubert Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. McGHEE, JOHN - age 81, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, May 09, 2003 at Briarcliff Health Care Center. veteran of WW II, serving with the US Army. Retired from Union Carbide Corp./ Y-12 where he was a shipping and receiving clerk. Survived by: wife of 57 years, Dorothy 'Dot" Smith McGhee; son, Carlos McGhee of Fort Myers, FL; daughter, Diane Ritter of Oak Ridge; brother, Bartley McGhee and wife Derushia of Newcombe, TN; special niece, Andrea McGhee of Oak Ridge; 4 grandchildren, Terry McGhee and wife Farah, Michael McGhee and wife Jennifer and Karah Ritter, all of Oak Ridge and Chris McGhee and wife Cassandra of Fort Myers, FL; 5 great grandchildren, Brady, Caleb, Tyler, Carson and Logan McGhee. Funeral services are Sunday, May 11, 2003 at 8:00pm at Heritage Fellowship Church with Dr. Fred Garmon officiating. Graveside services will be Monday at 10:00am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that memorials be in the form of contributions to the building fund of Heritage Fellowship, 121 N. Illinois Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN. The family will receive friends on tonight from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Heritage Fellowship Church. Arrangements by Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge. SWANN, LOUISE - age 88 of Oak Ridge, passed away May 9, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born May 9, 1915. She was a member of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Layman Swann; parents, Roy and Della Vineyard; twin sister, Lucille Vineyard. Survivors include son, James R. Swann of Oak Ridge; daughter and son in law, Linda and Glenn Hall of Tullahoma; granddaughters, Kirsty Kirby and Angela Hall both of Nashville; sisters in law, Nina Payne of Knoxville, Janell Graham, Dorothy Miller, Frances Swann all of Morristown; aunt, Pauline Vineyard of Indiana, formerly of Knoxville. Graveside services will be held Monday May 12, 2003 1 p.m. at Jefferson City Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jack Oglesby officiating.
