KENNETH M. ROBINSON, JOHN HENRY - age 69, TIDWELL, MR. ROGER DEAN- age 80 of the Mossy Grove Community, ========================================= CULBERSON, JERRY DANIEL - 68, Oak Ridge died in his home on December 8, 2003. Born on September 9, 1935 in Culberson, NC to parents Vertner Henry and Martha Crowe Culberson. He was a supervisor with Martin Marietta Energy at the Y-12 facility, retiring in 1995. A member of Glenwood Baptist Church, the Moose Lodge of Oak Ridge, an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and deep sea fishing. Preceded in death by son, Paul Christopher Culberson, 1994; grandson, Brian Daniel Culberson, 2002; brothers, Harry Alonzo Culberson and Larry Pascal Culberson, 1998. Survivors include, wife, Nancy Ellen McNair Culberson, Oak Ridge; sons, Daniel Dean Culberson and wife, Karen, Durham, NC, Joshua Culberson, Oak Ridge; daughter, Jennifer "Jenny" Sanders and husband, Jeff, Knoxville; sisters, Rose Walker and husband, S.G., Knoxville, Pat Moczynski, Lake Wells, FL; grandchildren, Isabella Sanders and Zane Sanders; special friends, Jack Gassaway and sons, Richard and Steve and Mike Hammill, all of Oak Ridge. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary on Thursday evening at 8 PM with Rev. Archie Fendley, minister of Central Baptist Church, Knoxville officiating. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, Anderson County in care of Jerri Milhorn Amonett, 104 Antioch Dr., Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 PM at Weatherford Mortuary. HERNDON, JEAN MARS - 81, of Oak Ridge died December 7th at Methodist Medical Center after a brief illness. Born August 24, 1922 in LaFollette, TN, she was the daughter of C.W. Mars and Claudia Grace Alexander Mars. She is survived by: her husband of 55 years Preston G. Herndon; and four daughters and spouses, Gail and Tom Fennimore of Charlotte, NC, Caryl and John Hall of Troutman, NC, Leigh Baron of Tipp City, OH and Gwen Herndon of Charlotte, NC; nine grandchildren also survive her: Blair and Keenan Fennimore; John, Jr. and Gregory Hall; Trevor, Chelsea, and Cullen Baron; and Antonia and Alexander Herndon. She has one surviving sister, Helen Davenport of Stormlake, IA and many nieces and nephews. After attending business school in Chillicothe, OH, she was employed by the Fleet Oil Company and during W.W.II held a secretarial position in the Inspector General's Office in Washington, DC. After the war, she accepted a position with Newsome Motor Company, a Kaiser-Frazier automobile agency in Bradenton, FL where she met and married her husband. While he attended the Univ. of Florida, she held the position of secretary to the head of the Department of Architecture and Allied Arts. After his graduation in 1950, they moved to Oak Ridge where he accepted an engineering position with Union Carbide Corp. and they have resided here continuously for 53 years. During the early years, 1950-1974, in Oak Ridge, she concentrated on rearing her family and was active in the Campfire Girls organization and school activities. From 1974 until retirement in 1993, she held the position of business manager at the Emory Valley Center. She was a loving caring wife and mother and her memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of her family and friends. She had many and varied interests that she embraced enthusiastically. She was an avid sports fan especially for the lady VOLS basketball team and the professional women's tennis tournaments. She and her husband faithfully attended UT football games for many years. They were also accomplished ballroom dancers and were members of several local dance clubs over the years. Travel was another special love of hers. She and her husband traveled extensively here and abroad to places of interest and attended his military reunions held throughout the United States. She loved reading and was an avid collector of many different items such as postage stamps, coins, LladrĂ³ ceramics figures, and Dickens Village. The Christmas season each year was a special time in her life. Throughout the year, she carefully selected just the right gift for each family member and friend and personally wrapped each one. She shunned Christmas form letters and composed personal handwritten letters each year to long time friends. A memorial service will be held Friday December 12, 2003 at 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge with the Rev. Bob Cantrell officiating. The family will welcome friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. LONGMIRE, MINNIE BELLE - age 86, of 225 College Hill Road, LaFollette, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. Minnie Bell was a loving grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed going to church. She is preceded in death by husband, Edd Longmire; parents, Eslick and Sallie Ford Chadwell; daughter, Jo Anne Norman; brothers, James "Bud" A. Chadwell and L.D. Chadwell; sisters, Cleo Adams and Clara Bowman. She is survived by granddaughter, Edwina Lyn Barone of Port Charlotte, Fla; special nephews, Jim, Jamey and Jonathan Chadwell, all of Caryville; special sister-in- law, Jewel Chadwell of LaFollette; brothers, Millard Chadwell of LaFollette and Norris Chadwell of Pontiac, MI; sisters, Wanda "Tootsie" Davidson of Waterford, MI, Jeraldine "Cricket" Miller, Shirley Ciaiborne and Joyce Walden, all of LaFollette, Yvonne Faulkner and Jane Wilson, both of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Cedar Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Arnold officiating. Interment will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2003 at Bakers Forge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday before funeral services. KENNETH M. - passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Halls. He was born in Carroll County, Georgia on July 21, 1930. He graduated from The University of Tennessee and Asbury Theological Seminary. He served in the U.S. Army during The Korean Conflict and worked eighteen years for Union Carbide's Y-12 Facility. He was ordained an Elder in The Holston Conference of The United Methodist Church and served the following churches: First United Methodist Church in Oneida, Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church in Knox County, First United Methodist Church in Pennington Gap, VA, Associate Pastor at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City, First United Methodist Church in Richlands, VA and First United Methodist Church in Galax, VA. After retirement, he attended Asbury United Methodist Church and pastored Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Knox County. In addition to his love and service for the church, he was a member of The Disciplined Order for Christ and was past President of The Southeast Region and was a member of the board. Preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Bonnie Perkins and a sister, Betty Perkins. Survived by wife of fifty-one years, Joyce Smith Perkins of Knoxville; daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and James Fleet of Raleigh, NC, Bonnie and Rev. Ronald Ramsey of Church Hill, TN and Melanie and Phil Crye, Jr. and Knoxville; grandchildren, Sarah, Jonathan and Rebecca Ramsey; brothers and spouses, Robert and Helen Perkins and C.C. and Margaret Perkins, all of Carrollton, GA; several nieces and nephews; special long-term caregivers, Mary Cade and Maggie Clark. The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church, Rev. David Smith and Dr. Robert Moore officiating. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Clapps Chapel Cemetery. ROBINSON, JOHN HENRY - age 69, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after an extended illness. He had looked forward to the day that the Lord would take him to his glorious home in Heaven. Born June 7, 1934 in Oliver Springs, he was the son of Reuben H. and Joe Anna Smith Robinson both now deceased. He was a life-long resident of Anderson County and graduated from Oliver Springs High School in 1953. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in The Korean Conflict. He was President of The Norwood Boy's Club from 1967-1972. He was employed by Oak Ridge Associated Universities, Union Carbide and Martin Marietta for many years and medically retired from Martin Marietta in 1986. He enjoyed working with the youth at Norwood Boy's Club and farming. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening and watching his grandchildren play. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, J.B. Robinson (also a brother, Billy J. and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Minnie Janiel, who died as infants). He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Winona "Winnie" Robinson; step-son, Richard D. Gray and wife, Judy; son, Michael H. Robinson; daughter, Michelle Lisenbee and husband, Joe, all of Oliver Springs; three grandchildren, James Gray, Jordan A. Ledford and Joseph Keathley-Lisenbee. He is also survived by two sisters, Blanna J. Smith and husband, Bill, of San Marcos, CA and Ruth E. Freels and her husband, Ben, of Baltimore, MD; his uncle, Harold Smith and wife, Mary Kate, of the Batley community; four nieces, Barbara Dykes and husband, Kenny, of Riverside, CA, Pam Merriam and husband, Bobby, of Escondido, CA, Donna Smith also of San Marcos, CA; Dewan Lamb and husband, Gary, of Knoxville and one nephew, Roger Smith of San Marcos, CA; sisters-in-law, Wilma Cooley and husband, Charles, of Oliver Springs, Lillie Donald and Nora Crites and husband, Tommy; brothers-in-law, John Donald and James Donald and his wife, Linda, all of Oak Ridge. His family will be remembered and missed by many relatives and friends, including Charles Ward and wife, Ethel and Ray Patterson who are considered his special friends. He won the hearts of many nurses during his illness, to whom the family are especially grateful. The funeral services will be held Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home, Rev. Luke Kidwell and Dr. Billy Edmonds officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial and graveside services will be held Friday, December 12, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. TIDWELL, MR. ROGER DEAN- age 80 of the Mossy Grove Community, passed away Wednesday morning, December 10, 2003 in the Morgan County Life Care Center, Wartburg. Dean was a WW ll veteran and a member of the Liberty Baptist Church, Wartburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; James Aud and Rose Francis Tidwell; son, Roger Dale "Freckles" Tidwell; son-in-law, Michael Allan Hamm; brothers; Max, Sid, Homer, John and Rex Tidwell. Surviving, wife; Lois Cross Tidwell, of Wartburg; daughters, Dara Tidwell Hamm, Mossy Grove Community, Leslie Tidwell Jackson and husband Lyndon, Mossy Grove Community; grandchildren; Ryan Hamm, Kristie Pennington, Nick, Evan and Alex Jackson all of the Mossy Grove Community; sisters, Betty Dyer, Oak Ridge, Mary Joe Brewer, of Harriman, Louise Schubert, of the Mossy Grove Community Rita Isham, of Reeds, NC.
