    2. >From The Knoxville News Sentinel 28 Dec 2003 AYERS, JOHN ROBERT - age 41 of LaFollette, CANTRELL, JOAN E. - age 78, of Clinton, CHITWOOD, ONEITA GLEYNE - age 88 of Oneida, Tenn., GIBSON, OSSIE JANETTE MEREDITH - age 77, TARBELL, PHILLIP ARTHUR - age 73 of Andersonville, ========================================= AYERS, JOHN ROBERT - age 41 of LaFollette, passed way suddenly Friday, December 26, 2003 at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. He was a member of LaFollette Church of God, a graduate of LMU where he belonged to Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He was President of Ayers Motors in LaFollette. Preceded in death by grandparents, John & Lassie Ayers & Robert McCreary. Survivors: son, Justin Ross Ayers, Pigeon Forge; daughters, Jessica Ayers, Katie Ayers, both of Gulfport, Miss.; parents, R.L. & Helen Ayers, Jacksboro; grandmother, Mrs. Robert McCreary, LaFollette; sisters, Angela Ayers Greeson, Cleveland, Joye Ayers Smith, Jacksboro; niece, Michaela Smith & nephew, Noah Smith. Funeral service 8 p.m. Monday LaFollette Church of God Rev. Norman Stallings and Rev. Tony Macaffee officiating. Interment 10 a.m. Tuesday Campbell Memorial Gardens. CANTRELL, JOAN E. - age 78, of Clinton, passed away Friday, December 26, 2003 at Methodist Medical Center. She was born August 2, 1925 in Harleston, Norfolk, England. She came to the U.S. in February of 1946 as a war bride & becamea naturalized citizen in 1948. Preceded in deathby parents, Arthur C. & Edith Daniel, brother, Kenneth Daniel & husband James Cantrell. Survivors: daughter, Pauline Hughes & husband Ken of Solway; son, Daniel Cantrell & wife Yvette of Clintongrandchildren, Danny & Ricky Cantrell of Knoxville, Courtney Cantrell of Clinton, Mike Hughes of Knoxville, Brad Hughes of Edgewater, Florida; great grandchildren, Angie Sinclair & Josh Hughes of Knoxville; great great grandchildren, Pacey & Patience Sinclair of Knoxville; brother-in-law, Billy Cantrell & wife Sarah of Clinton; nieces, Patricia Hodge & husband Peter of Norfolk, England, Ann Cable & husband Tim of Maryville, Carol Saunby of Dearborn, MI; nephews, Brian Daniel & wife Christine of Surry, England, Dail Cantrell & wife Nikki of Norris. Mrs. Cantrell retired from Union Carbide where she was employed for 25 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the British Empire and enjoyed a special bond with her "Brit" friends. She was a founding member of St. Albans Episcopal Church in Clinton and a current member of St. Stephens in Oak Ridge. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday, December 29, 2003 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home Chapel with a memorial service following in the chapel. The interment will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, at Sunset Cemetery. The lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of all arrangements. CHITWOOD, ONEITA GLEYNE - age 88 of Oneida, Tenn., passed away at the family residence on Friday morning, December 26th 2003. Born on October 15, 1915 and was the daughter of the late John Campbell and Vesta Ruffner Parnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Campbell and Vesta Ruffner Parnell; her husband, Clifford Chitwood and one sister, Evelyn Bullington and two brothers, Bill Parnell and Jim Parnell. She is survived by two sisters, Bromma Johnson Pemberton and Audrey Goodin both of Oneida; two brothers, Phillip A. (Curt) Parnell of Caryville, Tenn. and Milford Paul and wife June of Knoxville; a step son, Clifford Chitwood, Jr. and wife, Janet of Pennsylvania; sister in law, Edna Parnell; special nieces, Ann Adkins, Brenda Sue Parnell and Joyce Parnell and many nieces, nephews, and cousins to mourn her passing. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday afternoon, December 29th 2003 from noon until 2 p.m. in the chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Doug Wilder officiating. Interment in the Carson Memorial Park. Jones and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Oneita Glyne Chitwood. GIBSON, OSSIE JANETTE MEREDITH - age 77, a long time resident of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday December 26, 2003 at Methodist Medical Center. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the West Village Christian Church. She was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed her crafts and sight seeing. She enjoyed going to Norris Dam and watching the deer in Cades Cove. Born May 27, 1926 in Gap Creek, Tenn. to the late William G. and Elizabeth Hammitt Meredith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior C. Gibson, a retired employee of the electrical department of the City of Oak Ridge and retired US Air Force; brothers and sisters, Zelhia Meredith Taylor, Elbert Meredith, Ira Meredith, Sally Meredith Dorsett. Mrs. Gibson is survived by her children, Patricia Lynn Christman, Claudia G. Gibson, Randy Gibson and his wife, Tina; grandchildren, Roger Blue Christman, Timothy Cyan Christman, Ashley Gibson, Lena McBride and husband, Keith, and their son, Christopher McBride; one sister, Marie Meredith Jones and husband, Gordon and by three sisters in law, Lucille Meredith, Grace Gibson and Mildred Gibson. Funeral services will be Monday, December 29, 2003 at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Martin Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. TARBELL, PHILLIP ARTHUR - age 73 of Andersonville, passed away Friday December 26, 2003 at his residence. He attended Covenant Life Christian Church. Master Sergeant Tarbell served his country proudly as a service member of the United States Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War and received many honors to include the Air Force Commendation medal and the Presidential Unit Citation. He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Gosnel; sister in law and brother in law, Rosa and Emilo Sanchez and sons; father in law, Jackie Lawson. Mr. Tarbell is survived by his wife, Isabel Tarbell; son and daughter in law, Kevin Phillip Tarbell and Cathy; son, Alan Mathew Tarbell and special friend, Barbara Marcum; daughter and son in law, Lynn Marie Tarbell Watson and Mark; grandchildren, Christopher Tarbell, Elizabeth Watson, Kayla Tarbell, Bailey Watson, Mark Watson, II, and Jordan Taylor Watson; special friends, Chaney Miller, Jim Albanese, Jody Galler, Donna Lawson, Rodney and Rhonda Dyer. The family will receive friends Monday December 29, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at Weaver Funeral Home with services to follow at 8 p.m. with Dr. Ron Stewart officiating.
