Shaffer, 92, of Oak Ridge, Raymond Woodford Stoughton, 87, formerly of Oak Ridge, Herbert Hoover Gann, 73, of Oliver Springs, ========================================= Donna D. Link, 74, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge. Born July 31, 1929, in Crawford, Neb., she was the daughter of E.G. and Esther Lightbody. Mrs. Link attended schools is Sargent, Neb., Stanton, Neb., and Nebraska City, Neb., where she graduated from high school in 1947. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Neb., where she was a member of Willard sorority. She was a 55-year member of PEO, active in Chapter R in Oak Ridge. Mrs. Link is survived by her husband, Bruce; a son, David, of Leavenworth, Kan.; two daughters, Kristi, and husband, Geoffrey, of Sitka, Alaska, and Lori Hooker of Redwood City, Calif.; and by two granddaughters, Jessica, of Redwood City, and Kelly, of Minneapolis, Minn. She is also survived by two brothers, Phillip Lightbody, and wife, Kelly, of Casselberry, Fla., and James Lightbody, and wife, Donna, of Lincoln; a brother-in-law, Dale; three sisters-in-law, Georgette Lightbody of Winter Park, Fla., Peggy of Ravenna, Neb., and Sheila Link of Eugene, Ore.; and by 10 nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, in the chapel of First United Methodist Church. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to PEO, 212 Iroquois Rd., Oak Ridge, TN 37830, or Oak Ridge Lions Club, P.O. Box 4085, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-4085. Bernice H. Shaffer, 92, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Sun City, Ariz., died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, after a short illness. Born Oct. 23, 1911, in Joliet, Ill., she was the daughter of Martin and Mary Taylor. Mrs. Shaffer had been a resident of the Oak Ridge Retirement Community and most recently Briarcliff Health Care Center. She was a retired elementary school teacher and was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church in Sun City. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Shaffer, and by her sister, Margaret L. Taylor. Mrs. Shaffer is survived by her daughter, Joan M. Flagg, of San Diego, Calif.; her son, John T. Shaffer, and wife, Karen, of Oak Ridge; her sister, Edna T. Wilson, of Sun City; three grandchildren, Karen Flagg Bosick and husband, Chuck, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Marshall Edmund Flagg and wife, Buffy, of Mammoth Lakes, Calif., and Robyn Denise Shaffer of Oak Ridge; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Bosick, Dillon James Bosick, and Blake Matthew Bosick, all of Highlands Ranch; and by many other family members. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Sunland Memorial Park Mortuary in Sun City. Burial will follow. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60601-7633, or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements. Raymond Woodford Stoughton, 87, formerly of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, in Iloilo City, Philippines, of natural causes. Born Aug. 6, 1916, Dr. Stoughton came to Oak Ridge to work with the Manhattan Project. He retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 1978, where he worked as a nuclear chemist since 1943. Dr. Stoughton is listed in Who's Who in American Chemists as a co-discoverer of U-233. Dr. Stoughton is survived by his wife, Nenita Stoughton, of Dingle, Philippines; his ex-wife, Genevieve Stoughton, of Harriman; two sons, John Stoughton of Holland, Mich., and Bob of Albuquerque, N.M.; and by two daughters, Marjorie in Pickering, Ontario, and Annie in Bucharest, Romania. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at St. Joseph Chapel in Iloilo City, Philippines. Herbert Hoover Gann, 73, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
