    2. >From the Knoxville News Sentinel 14 Dec 2003 ADKINS, BETTY JUNE - age 74 of Caryville, BROOKS, WILLIE "NELSON" - age 45 of Lake City, Tenn., CARTER, CASSIE LOWE - Born October 2, 1914 in New River, TN COOPER, VERNON - age 87, of Clinton, IRWIN, CHARLES EVERETTE - age 72, Clinton, QUEENER, VERNE - age 79 of LaFollette, ========================================= ADKINS, BETTY JUNE - age 74 of Caryville, passed away Friday, December 12, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Caryville. Mrs. Adkins was a loving wife of 53 years, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, Marion and Ada Sharp Adkins; and brother, Roy Adkins. Mrs. Adkins is survived by husband, Robert V. Adkins; son and daughter in law, Bobby and Michelle Adkins; daughter, Debbie Polson all of Caryville; grandchildren, Tara Polson Rendall of Henderson, Ky.; Lori, Robert, Courtney Adkins of Caryville; great granddaughters, Alexis, Camryn and Emma; sisters, Helen Freytay of Muncie, Ind., Hazel Pemberton of Caryville and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Sunday, December 14 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Herb Jones and Rev. T.D. Hooker officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Monday in Leach Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday before funeral services. BROOKS, WILLIE "NELSON" - age 45 of Lake City, Tenn., passed away Friday, December 12, 2003 at his home in Lake City. he was a member of the Island Ford Baptist Church. Having a gift to help others, he had been a volunteer paramedic for Bean Station as a young man and went on to become an organ donor in his final life. He worked for years for Clayton Homes and went on to deliver homes for Clayton/Olinger & Son Trucking Company. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Mae Lovin Brooks. Survivors: wife, Connie Brooks-Disney & Jerry Disney of Lake City, Tenn.; daughter, Robin Virginia Henderson of Knoxville, Tenn.; sons, Jamey Michael Brooks & wife, Casey Jill, of Morristown, Robert Ray Hankins of Knoxville; father, James Brooks of Mooresburg, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jacob Lane Brooks & Shyann Nicole Henderson; brother, Harold Thomas Brooks of Mooresburg; sisters in law, Sally Dance of Knoxville, Jeannie Bledsoe & husband, Harley, & son, Michael of Sevierville; special friends, Sister Maristella of St. Mary's Medical Center and James Rogers of Dollywood. The family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to the staff of Sand Lake Hospital in Orlando, Fla. and also to the staff of St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. Memorial service will be held Sunday, December 14, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Island Ford Baptist Church in Lake City with Rev. Charles Harness officiating. CARTER, CASSIE LOWE - Born October 2, 1914 in New River, TN died Friday, December 12, 2003 at Asbury Acres, Maryville, TN. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Alcoa. She kept the nursery at Alcoa United Methodist and babysat for many children in her home for years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Carter; father, John Lowe; mother, Sarah Elizabeth Daugherty Lowe; daughter, Martha Susan Carter, and an infant son. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, E.J. and Brenda Carter, of Fayetteville, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Randy Barnett, of Sarasota, FL, Marjorie and John Nance, of Alcoa, TN; grandchildren, Brooke Barnett and Beau Barnett, of Sarasota, FL, Jennifer Bridwell, of Maryville, TN, Scott Carter, of Fayetteville, GA, Tamara Carter, of Jonesboro, GA, and Melinda Owen, of Brooks, GA; great-grandchildren, Carter Bridwell, Landry Carter, Whitney Carter, Garrett Owen, Olivia Owen, and Grant Owen; special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tommy Carter, Ella Mae Hughes, Marlena Braden, and Betty Flanagan. Funeral services will be Friday, December 19, at 2:30 P.M. in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Kelly officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Wife of over 60 years, Jeannine Cooper of Clinton, daughter, Dotty Cooper of Clinton. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, December 15, 2003 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday at Clinton Church of God with Rev. Curtis Akers officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Retired from Martin Marietta Y-12 after 45 years of service in Research Development, worked at Clinton Courier News from 1949-1953 as a printer and typesetter, veteran of US Army Air Force having served in Japan from 1946-1948. Preceded in death by his parents, Charlie F. and Mettie Waggoner Irwin and brothers, Fernde Irwin, Floyd Irwin, Milas Irwin and Carl Irwin. Survivors: daughters, Belinda Ford and her husband, John of Knoxville, Gay Irwin of Johnson City, Tenn.; son, Chuck Irwin of Clinton; grandchildren, Sean Blevins and his wife, Maha Ayesh of Knoxville, Nathan Irwin, Bret Ford and Savannah Irwin all of Knoxville; sisters, Mary Ellen Elliott an Cleo Robbins both of Andersonville; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Monday December 15th with memorial services following at Holley- Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. He was a member of Morley Baptist Church, retired coal miner & iron worker, US Navy veteran of WW II. Preceded in death by parents, Charles & Julia Wright Queener; brothers, Carl, Arthur, Clyde, Gene & Herbert Queener; sisters, Pauline Gibson and Joann Queener. Survivors: wife of over 51 years, Eva Lee York Queener; sisters, Betty Lou Conley, Knoxville; several nieces & nephews. Funeral service 8 p.m. Monday Cross Chapel.
