    2. >From The Knoxville News Sentinel 22 Aug 2003 KIRKSEY, ALICE JANE HOLLINGSWORTH - age 82, LOWE, ROLAND- age 74 of Smokey Junction, Tenn. ============================================ KIRKSEY, ALICE JANE HOLLINGSWORTH - age 82, of Powell, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2003 at her residence after a courageous 3 year battle with ovarian cancer. She was a member of Clinton First Baptist Church where she had been active in the Adult C Sunday school department and had served as secretary for the Sunshine class in years past. She retired from Am South Bank, formerly known as Union Peoples Bank in Clinton, where she had worked as a bank teller. In addition, she had worked for Judge Joe Magill in the Anderson County Executive office. She was also an alumna of Tennessee Wesleyan College. She was born June 15, 1921 in Clinton. Her father, Ernest A. Hollingsworth served as County Court Clerk in Anderson County from 1925-1937. Her grandfather was the late Dr. Harvey Hollingsworth who served during the civil war and doctored many fellow veterans after the civil war. Her family heritage has long been a part of the Anderson County area. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Kirksey; parents, Ernest A. & Minnie Shinlever Hollingsworth; sister, Lolita Hollingsworth Margrave Kilpatrick; brother, Howard Hollingsworth. Survivors: sons, William "Bill" Kirksey & wife, Sarah Jane of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Ron Kirksey & wife, Susan of Stow, Ohio; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynne Kirksey Smith & husband, Todd of Athens, Ohio, Scott Eben Kirksey of Oxford, England, Katherine Hollingsworth Kirksey of Gaithersburg, Maryland; special niece, Kaye Margrave Doty of Knoxville; several nieces, nephews & cousins and a host of special friends. The family will receive friends 12:00 - 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2003 at Clinton First Baptist Church in Clinton with memorial service following the visitation at 2:00 p.m., with Dr. Paul Frick officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37938, or to the charity of your choice. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all arrangements. LOWE, ROLAND- age 74 of Smokey Junction, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at the Fort Sanders Park West Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Bessie Cook Lowe; 1 brother, Ewell Lowe; 1 sister, Vena Lowe; 1 son in law, Earl Sherritze; 1 daughter in law, Patty Jeffers Lowe; father in law, Andrew Cross; mother in law, Celia Cross. He joined River View Missionary Baptist Church on September 25, 1943. He served as custodian from October 10, 1959 thru August 1990. He was ordained as a Deacon on September 9, 1961. He was a member of the Oneida Masonic Lodge 695 F&AM, Scottish Rites, 32nd Degree Kerbela Temple of Knoxville, Tenn., Eastern Star 259. Roland was a loving husband and father. He worked in the trucking industry for numerous years and drove a school bus for 21 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maudie Cross Lowe; 1 daughter, Loretta Sherritze of Knoxville, Tenn.; 2 sons, Dennie Lowe and wife, Patsy, Dwayne Lowe and wife, Carol all of Oneida, Tenn.; 2 special grandsons, Travis Lowe and Blake Lowe; 1 step granddaughter, Leslie Struck and husband, Heath; 2 step great grandchildren, Dallan Phillips, Jaleigh Strunk; 2 special sisters, Irma Mason, Patricia Kay Lowe and husband, Larry of Smokey Junction, Tenn.; 1 special brother, Donald Lowe and wife, Joyce; 1 special nephew, Marvin Lowe and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday evening after 5 p.m. August 22, 2003 in the Chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home in Huntsville with Masonic services at 8 p.m. by the Oneida Lodge #695 F&AM. Funeral services will be 12 noon Saturday August 23, 2003 at the River View Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Dudley Harness and Bro. Ronald Massengale officiating. Music will be provided by the Mason Family. Burial will follow in the River View Cemetery. Pallbearers: Marvin Lowe, Ronnie Lowe, Randy Lowe, Larry Lowe, Kevin Lowe, Chad Lowe, Lonnie Lowe, Alex Lowe, Ray Lowe and Hedrick Mason. Honorary pallbearers: grandsons, Travis Lowe and Blake Lowe.
