"JIM" age 72, of Clinton, SWEAT, VELMA - age 86 of LaFollette, ============================================ ALLEN, WAYNE EDGAR (CAPTAIN) - age 66 of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Wednesday afternoon, August 13, 2003 at Park West Hospital. Captain Wayne was a member of Our Father's House Church. He was retired from American Ecology in Oak Ridge. A member of the OCAW. Captain Wayne was a member of the VOL Navy and loved to play his keyboard and was the wake up call on game day. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his son, James Paul Allen; parents, Lillian and Paul Allen. Survivors: wife, Bea Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Chris Mann; son and daughter-in- law, David Eugene and Chanda Brown all of Knoxville; grandchildren, James Allen Brown, Justin Todd Oakes, Joshua Christopher Mann, Heather Michelle Mann, Braxton Wayne Mann, Jordan Clay Brown; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Ralph Buck of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Betty Allen of Bethesda, MD; special loving friend, Sally Allen of Miami, FL. Survivors include wife, Bonnie Burris; daughters, Cheryl Maxey, Melissa Owen, and Sarah Burris of Knoxville; daughters and sons in law, Kim and Bradley Yarbrough of Knoxville, Kandy and Wendel Norman of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Linda Bowerman, Judy Scarbrough and Dorothy Moses all of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends that knew and loved him. Mrs. Cook was a loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Charlie Cook; son, Hershell A. Cook; parents, James Cooper and Nancy Jane Richardson Gross; brother, Morton Gross; sisters, Vergie Cook, Gladys Donaldson and Verra Smith. Mrs. Cook is survived by sons, James B. Cook of New Parris, Ohio, Charles E. Cook of Jacksboro; daughter, Vera Lorain Kemp of Knoxville; 7 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Martin Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. FINCHUM, CLARA "MA" TYE - age 98, of Sevierville, expired Thursday, August 14, 2003. Clara was a graduate of Maryville College. A teacher, she taught at Harlan, Ky., Clinton, Tenn., and Fairfax County, Va. Thirty-five years ago she and her husband retired to Sevierville and joined the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ralph N. Finchum, six brothers and one sister. Clara is survived by her son, Dr. R. Newell Finchum and wife, Sarah of Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Anthony Finchum and wife, Jeri, Melissa Finchum Garner and husband, Kelly; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Mitchell Garner, all of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Jessie Tye Fullen of Bristol, Va. Besides the immediate family, Clara will be missed by her niece, Betty Tye Mills and husband, Paul of Thomasville, N.C.; nephew, Count B. Tye and wife, Maxine of Charleston, S.C., and many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2003, at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. H.B.
