Hicks, Jr., 71, LaFollette, Minnie Baird Riggs, 91, LaFollette, Christine Robbins, 76, LaFollette ============================================ Jane Barkley, 64, Fayetteville, N.C. died Sunday, August 10, 2003 at her residence. She was born January 16, 1939 in Jellico. Jane is survived by her husband, Hubert Barkley Jr.; daughters, Lisa B. Seffels, Sandee B. Williams, all of Fayetteville, N.C; son, Hubert M. Barkley III, Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Johnny Walker, Loveland, OH; sister, Margaret Proffitt, Goshen, OH; seven grandchildren. Visitation services were at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on August 13. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 14 at 2 p.m. in Jernigan-Warren Chapel with Dr. Ben West officiating. Burial will be at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery August 14, 2003 LaFollette Press Freddy Michael Buckner, 37, Newcomb, died Thursday, August 7 at the Jellico Community Hospital. He was employed by the Nissan Company in Smyrna and a member of the Saddle Club. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Cecil Buckner and Francis Dople. Freddy is survived by his wife Elaine Bucker, Newcomb; three daughters, Lesha Buckner, Jellico, Brittany Buckner, Lebanon, Amber Johnson, Woodbine, Ky.; father and step-mother, Freddy and Letha Jean Buckner, Newcomb; mother and step-father, Wanda and Lonnie Lambdin, Lot, Ky.; sister, Shannon Buckner, Jellico; grandmothers, Trula Buckner, Newcomb, Jessie Dople Hicks, Woolridge; three nephews, Spanky, Isaac and Dawlton; mother-in-law, Birdy Moore, Jellico. Funeral services were Sunday, August 10 in the Chapel of Harp Funeral Home with Reverends Jerry Yancey, David Morgan and Eddie Muse officiating. Burial was in the Hicks Cemetery in Newcomb. The family received friends Saturday, August 9 at the funeral home. Harp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. August 14, 2003 LaFollette Press Hubert L. Burnette, 75, Kokomo, In. died Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1927 in Sharps Chapel, TN. He was employed at Continental Steel for 29 years, retiring in 1978. He was a general supervisor for wire salvage. Hubert was a veteran of the U.S. Army and also a former member of the Izaak Walton League, serving as president for one term and a former member of the American Legion Post #6. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He loved spending time with his wife, family and friends. Hubert is preceded in death by his parents, Willis H. and Sylvia (Wolfenbarger) Burnette; one brother, Roy Burnette, Sr.; one sister, Cecil Buckner and two granddaughters. He is survived one son; Doyle W. Burnette, Ft. Wayne, In.; four daughters, Jeanette V. Burnette, Kokomo,Betty Eilene Hamblin and husband Ralph, LaFollette, Donna Burnette, St. Petersburg, Fla., Gail Bowers, Galveston and husband Ted; four brothers, Verlin Burnette, LaFollette, Fred Burnette, Forest, In., Carl Burnette, Luttrell, Dennis Burnette, Halls Crossroads; three sisters, Ruby Wolfenbarger, Galveston, Pauline Johnson, Halls Crossroads, Louise Oaks, Halls Crossroads; three special girls, Wanita Kirk, Kokomo, Vicky Horn, Kokomo, and Beverly Chilcote, St. Petersburg, Fla. Funeral services were Saturday, August 9 at Murray Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Enochs officiating. Burial was in the Galveston Cemetery August 14, 2003 LaFollette Press Corum Harvey Carson, 76, Lake City, died Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was born January 24, 1927 in Claiborne County to the late Corum Sr. and Jennie Pierce Harvey. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Less Harvey, John Harvey and Claude Harvey; sisters, Evelyn Dodd, Ether Grooms and Myrtle Harvey. Corum is survived by his wife, Mattie Harvey, Lake City; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Ann and James Bailey, West Carrollton, Oh; sister, Viola Gross, Dayton, grandchildren, Tabitha, Heather, and Jimmy; great grandchildren, Jenna and Ashley and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. Visitation was Friday, August 8 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home. Funeral services were Friday, August, 8 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Guyton officiating. Interment was Saturday, August 9 at the Butler Cemetery in Oliver Springs. Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. August 14, 2003 LaFollette Press Tilmon Goins, 73, LaFollette, died, Saturday, August 9, 2003 after a long illness at his home. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mr. Going was a loving husband of 50 years, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed his church. Mr. Goins was an avid flea marketer. Mr. Goins is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Ida Rutherford Goins; brother, Troy, Ray, and Edison and Harold Goins; sister, Bonnie Wilson Burnett. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Martha Goins, LaFollette; sons, and daughter-in-laws, David and Shelia Goins, Jacksboro, Howard and Retha Goins, and Richard and Mary Goins, all of LaFollette; daughter, Euvetta Pauline McCulley, Jacksboro, daughters and son-in-laws,Charline and Joe Brewer, LaFollette, Joanne and James Wilson, Clinton, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; special friends, Ulyss and Aileen Lynch and Charles McCulley, all of LaFollette; brothers, Floyd, Paul, and Leon Goins, all of LaFollette; sisters, Mary Kimberlin and Pansy Henderson, both of LaFollette; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Monday, August 11 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Reverends David Goins and Howard Goins officiating. Interment was Tuesday, August 12 in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Monday before the services. The grandsons were pallbearers. August 14, 2003 LaFollette Press Juanita Gross, 74, LaFollette died Monday, August 11, 2003 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the Long Hollow Baptist Church. Ms. Gross was a loving sister and aunt who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed watching gospel programs on TV. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Ona Mae Smith Gross; brothers, Clifford Edgar and Ralph Gross. Ms. Goins is survived by her sisters, Novella White and Cloeva (Toby) Heatherly both of LaFollette, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Tuesday, August 12 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Reverends LeRoy Braden and Randy Comer officiating. Interment was Wednesday in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, August 12 before the funeral services Larry Hatmaker, 54, Jacksboro, died Saturday, August 9, 2003 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner in Oregon, Oh. He belonged to Athletic Hall of Fame in Oregon. Larry is preceded in death by his father, Richard "Tooky" Hatmaker. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hatmaker, Jacksboro; daughter, Sarah Hatmaker, Lima, Oh; son, Andy Hatmaker, Toledo, Oh; step-daughter, Kim Oaks and husband, David, LaFollette; mother, Rubye Wilson Hatmaker, Caryville; brothers, Terry Hatmaker, High Pointe, N.C., Jerry Cox and wife Judy, Charlotte, N.C.; niece, Katie and a host of other relatives and friends. The family received friend Monday, August 11 at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Harness officiating. Masonic service was conducted prior to the funeral service. Interment was Tuesday, August 12 at Campbell County Memorial Gardens in LaFollette. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. August 14, 2003 LaFollette Press Edwin H. Hicks, Jr., 71, LaFollette, died Saturday, August 9, 2003 at his home. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and American Legion. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Hicks; father, Edwin H. Hicks Sr., and his mother, Rosa Hicks. Edwin is survived by his wife, Rosaletta Hicks, LaFollette; children, Keith, Brian, and Janet, all of Kalamazoo, Mi, Ronnie, Cleveland; step-children, Rebecca Ann Thomas, Corbin, Ky, Judy K. Vanover, Williamsburg, Ky, Crystal Lynn Ray, LaFollette, Junior Danny Walden, St. Mary's Oh; sisters, Ginger Bunch, Caryville, Judith Ann Swanson and Lucinda McGhee, both of Dayton, OH, and Susie Collins, LaFollette; brother, Carl Hicks, Jacksboro; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. August 14, 2003 LaFollette Press Minnie Baird Riggs, 91, LaFollette, died Saturday, August 9, 2003 at Sunbridge Health Care. She was a member of East Jacksboro Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, George David and Lettie Ann Bolton Baird; brothers, George, Howard, and Aaron Baird; sisters, Della King and Dessie Canady, and son, J.C. Riggs. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. David A. and Mary Hannah Riggs, Dickson; eight grandchildren and a host of great-great -great grandchildren; sister, Vada Seiber, Norris; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were Monday, August 11 at Cross Chapel with Reverends Jimmy Ault and David Riggs officiating. Interment was Tuesday, August 12 at Woodlawn Cemetery. August 14, 2003 LaFollette Press Christine Robbins, 76, LaFollette died Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville. She was a member of the Coolidge First Baptist Church. She spent 53 years with the love of her life, Robert Robbins. Mrs. Robbins was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was very passionate about her church and enjoyed working in her flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bertha Wells Thompson; brother, Billy Ray Thompson; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Thompson and Aileen Busby. Mrs. Robbins is survived by her husband Robert Robbins, LaFollette; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Shirley and Scott and Autumn Robbins; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Rick Myers, all of Jacksboro; five grandchildren, Amy Wolfenbarger, Heather Morris, Jennie Williamson, Mary Katherine Robbins, and Hannah Robbins; five great grandchildren; brothers, J.T., Robert and Franklin D. Thompson, all of LaFollette, Paul Thompson, Chattanooga; sisters, Henrietta Beaty, Singal Mt, Nannie Thompson, Jacksboro; Linda Albright, LaFollette, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Friday, August 8 at the Coolidge First Baptist Church with Rev. Lynn Ray officiating. Internment was Saturday, August 9 in Jacksboro Cemetery.
