>From The Knoxville News Sentinel 21 Jul 2003 GILLIAM, JAMES LLOYD - age 84, of Niota, HAAG, HAZEL IMOGENE "NANNY" - age 85, of Clinton, MANNING, FRANCES CAYE - age 57, of Clinton, WOODS, DONNIE FRANCIS - age 49, of Clinton, ============================================ GILLIAM, JAMES LLOYD - age 84, of Niota, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Athens Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. A native of Roane County, he was a son of the late Marion F. and Lou Fritts Gilliam. He was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Eugene Gilliam, a granddaughter, Stacey Rose McFalls, a brother, Marion "Toby" Gilliam, and a sister, Violet Hicks. He was a member of Niota United Methodist Church, and was a graduate of McMinn County High School, Class of 1936. He was a longtime member of Springbrook Golf and Country Club. He was a Dept. Superintendent with Union Carbide, Y-12 Plant, in Oak Ridge, until his retirement in 1978. He was an avid motorcyclist and founded Motor Sports Cycle Company, which has been in continuous operation in Athens since 1966. Surviving is his wife of sixty-one years, Lorena Stricklan Gilliam of Niota; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carol Ann Hodge, and Wylda Jo and Val Jones, all of Kingston; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jim and Glenna Gilliam, Steve and Donna Gilliam, all of Athens, Richard Gilliam of Dallas, Texas, and David and Michelle Gilliam of Knoxville; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 8:00 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Kelley officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Niota Cemetery for the interment service. The body will be in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. Monday, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Marion Gilliam, Claude Hicks, Jr., Robert Hodge, Eric Gilliam, Val Jones, Lynn Spears, and Garrett Burian. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Hicks, Larry Hodge, Sim Sewell, Noel Knox, Bill Snyder, Norbert Hashe and Jimmy Price. Jerry Smith Funeral Home, of Athens, is serving the family of James Lloyd Gilliam. HAAG, HAZEL IMOGENE "NANNY" - age 85, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2003, at the N.H.C. Health Care Center in Oak Ridge. Imogene was born on July 17, 1918, in the small town of Cleveland, Arkansas on Wolverton Mountain. She was a member of Cherokee Village Methodist Church in Arkansas. One of her greatest joys was cooking for her family and friends. She also loved raising flowers and decorating the house at Christmas time. Nanny never complained and was always concerned about the needs of others, rather than her own. Her one desire was to go on to be with her husband in Heaven. Preceded in death by husband, Preston Nelson Haag; parents, Oliver Green and Sarah Pemberton; brothers, Lonnie, Med, Laudis, Ernest, Vernon, Earl Allen, Marvin Allen, Jr., Carl and Harvey Pemberton; sisters, Ruth Pemberton Bost and Shirley Pemberton Blunier. She was a member of Clinton First Wesleyan Church. Preceded in death by parents, Arvil Lee Hill, Sr. and Margaret Lamb Hill. Survivors: husband, Charles Manning of Clinton; daughters, Sharon and husband, Johnny Golden of Clinton, Cheryl and husband, Todd Guthrie of Oak Ridge, Linda Manning of Clinton; sons, Mark and wife, Michelle Manning of Andersonville, Scott and wife, Christy Manning of Clinton; grandchildren, Alex, Matthew, and Lauren Guthrie, Kelsey and Bailey Jones; expecting daughter of Mark and Michelle, Madeline E. Manning; step grandchildren, J. R. WOODS, DONNIE FRANCIS - age 49, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2003, at his residence. He was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church. He worked at Modine Manufacturing as a maintenance mechanic for 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, horseback riding, four wheeling, hunting and fishing. Preceded in death by son, Donnie Christopher Woods. Survivors: wife, Shirley Woods of Clinton; daughters, Sherry Don Woods of Clinton, Kelly and husband, Marvin McHugh of Clinton; son, Troy Daniel Woods of Clinton; step daughter, Kimberly Lambert of Oak Ridge; four grandchildren; sister, Judy and husband, Joe Rhyne of Orlando, Fla.; brothers, Winfred and wife, Jean Woods of Clinton, Tim and wife, Debbie Woods of Lake City, and several nieces and nephews.
