Hi! Debbie, I need all the help I can get. However, how do you know this is the correct Hoyt? I am a beginner with this pc, and therefore, do not know how to go about finding a lot of this info., I did go to the sight you speak of, and saw the name is there indeed, yet the other ones I do not recognize. I have also taken it into consideration that my Dad could have very possibly had another family unbeknown to any of us. It is indeed possible. I would love your help, thank you so much. Hi Beverly, You can't know if it is the right man until you ask. The lady is willing to help. I am wondering if he used a name other than Hoyt. He is not listed in the Social Security Death Records. I checked everyone with the name of Barnett, I checked every Hoyt Barnett, I checked every Barnett with that birthday, every Barnett with that death date....I can up with nothing. Finding someone on the net can be a matter of persistence and luck. Sometimes I do lookups for other people so I can take a break from my people. Sometimes when I do this I discover or remember something I haven't tried on my people. I will be going to the historical society today, I'll check there for him. Have you called the Death Record Dept. for CA? If he died in CA there should be a death record. It may be worth paying $5 to $20 for a copy. Have you went to Rootsweb Connect World Search? Have you tried searching the US genweb state pages? Both of these searches do not show up in the google search. Have you search on the LDS site? I didn't find him there but you might. Also, don't just search for your father. Search for yourself, your siblings, his siblings, his parents, their parents. You never know when on search will lead you to the information you are looking for. While you are searching be sure you make a 'paper trail' Print or keep a copy of every bit of information you find. Be sure you keep the source and the web site you found the info from. If you have been keeping a trail, go back and look over everything again. I did and I found an ancestor in an obit that no had discovered. So, good luck and keep plugging away!
