>From The Knoxville News Sentinel 20 Jul 2003 BELTON, HAROLD "DOC" E. - 96, a resident of Oak Ridge HAAG, HAZEL IMOGENE "NANNY" - age 85 of Clinton HOBBY, BOYD HARVIE, JR. - age 81 ============================================ BELTON, HAROLD "DOC" E. - 96, a resident of Oak Ridge since 1946, died at 11 a.m. in Pittsburgh, PA on July 15, 2003. Born in Cimmaron, New Mexico on January 23, 1907, prior to its becoming a state, Mr. Belton moved to Paxton, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois studying engineering. Mr. Belton was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oak Ridge. Mr. Belton enjoyed golfing. He was a founding member, past president and active member of the East Tennessee Senior Golf Association and 40 year member of the Oak Ridge Country Club. Mr. Belton was a miniature enthusiast working with the Children's Museum of Oak Ridge. He was a World War II veteran with the Army Corps of Engineers. He came to Oak Ridge after his discharge and worked for the AEC, retiring as Director of Construction Division. Preceded in death by parents Helen Aloysia Mulvaney and Eugene Joseph Belton; wife of 69 years Glenn Helen Belton; and son Gary James Belton. Survivors include: Gail Belton Gilliland and her husband, Gerald "Gil" Gilliland, of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter-in-law Jann Belton, of Memphis, TN; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The funeral service was held at noon on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Sam Sturm officiating. Interment was at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family received friends Saturday at the church. Weatherford Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. HAAG, HAZEL IMOGENE "NANNY" - age 85 of Clinton, passed away Saturday July 19, 2003 at NHC Healthcare Center in Oak Ridge. Imogene was born on July 17, 1918 in the small town of Cleveland, Arkansas on Wolverton Mountain. She was a member of Cherokee Village Methodist Church in Arkansas. One of her greatest joys was cooking for her family and friends. She also loved raising flowers and decorating the house at Christmas time. Nanny never complained & was always concerned about the needs of others, rather than her own. Her one desire was to go on to be with her husband in Heaven. Preceded in death by husband, Preston Nelson Haag; parents, Oliver Green & Sarah Pemberton; brothers, Lonnie, Med, Laudis, Ernest, Vernon, Earl Allen, Marvin Allen, Jr., Carl & Harvey Pemberton; sisters, Ruth Pemberton Bost & Shirley Pemberton Blunier. HOBBY, BOYD HARVIE, JR. - age 81 of Powell went to be with the Lord 4:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003. He was a longtime member, deacon and choir member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. Retired from Y-12 after 34 years of service. Member of Powell Lodge # 582 F&AM. Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. Preceded in death by: wife, Dorothy King Hobby; granddaughter, Julia Ann Easterday; parents, Boyd, Sr. and Flora Hobby; twin sister and brother, Charlsie and Charles Hobby. Survivors: daughter and son-in- law, Carol Ann and Jack Easterday, Powell; granddaughter and husband, Drs. Angela Carol and Tim Holder, Georgetown, KY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Stella King; sister-in-law, Bertie King; niece, Nancy Jean Davenport all of Knoxville; niece and husband, June and Don Johnson of FL; nephew and wife, Buddy and Gertie King of GA. The family would like to express a special appreciation to Dr. Steven Masters and Dr. Randall Trudell. Funeral service 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Boyd, Rev. Randy Macon and Rev. Kent Williams officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Woodlawn Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service and interment. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and Men's Faith Sunday School Class.
