"Slim" Hall, 84, Mollye Kate Cullins, 48, of Clinton, Helen Grills Riggs, Rodney Wilson, 40, of Briceville, Richard Donavan Corley, 52, of Knoxville, ============================================ Waldo Lamprey Richardson, 89, of Kingston, formerly of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Roane Medical Center. Born Sept. 28, 1914, in Chelmsford, Mass., he was the son of Shubert H. and Fern Lamprey Richardson. Mr. Richardson began working at the Union Carbide Nuclear Division at the Oak Ridge K-25 site on Jan. 3, 1944, and retired Dec. 31, 1977. He was the superintendent of operations. During his college years, Mr. Richardson played football and baseball, and later played semi-pro football. His family said he was an avid sports fan, favoring the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Atlanta Braves. His family said he especially loved baseball, and was also an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying boating and water activities and he enjoyed reading. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and his first wife, Priscilla Richardson. Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife of seven years, Helen Caldwell Richardson; his adopted son, Michael Richardson, and wife, Pat, of Oak Ridge; his stepdaughter, Bonnie Parrott, and husband, Phil, of Oak Ridge; two grandsons; a stepgrandson, Drew Parrot, and wife, Aneka, of Oak Ridge; a stepgranddaughter, Leslie Scicchitano, and husband, Ric, of McKinney, Texas; and by two stepgreat-grandchildren, Ricci Scicchitano and Rachael Scicchitano. No services are planned. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Boys Club of Oak Ridge, 102 South Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge, TN 37830 or the Girls Incorporated of Oak Ridge, 1798 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Louise Gouge Harris Singleton, 68, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park, Fla., following an illness. Born Aug. 17, 1935, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of Dora Noe Gouge of Oliver Springs and Robert Elmer Gouge, who is now deceased. Mrs. Singleton lived in Dayton, Ohio, for 11 years before moving to Florida in 1970. She was a retired nursing assistant and a member of the Church of God. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Singleton is survived by her daughter, Sharon Gail Archer of Jacksonville; three sons, Randy Harris, and wife, Blaine, of Tampa, Fla., and Douglas Harris and Tony Harris, both of Jacksonville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Joe Robert Gouge, and wife, Brenda, of Oak Ridge, and Bert E. Gouge, and wife, Patsy, of Wartburg; and by a sister, Violet Marie Nelson, and husband, James, of Harriman. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Jerry Noe officiating. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Hospice, 700 South Illinois Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Raymond F. "Slim" Hall, 84, a longtime Oliver Springs businessman, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born July 5, 1919, in Sullivan County, he was the son of Dock Alexander Hall and Vertie Mae Adams Hall. Mr. Hall moved to Oliver Springs in 1943 and immediately went to work as a mechanic on the Manhattan Project. In 1952, he opened the Oliver Springs PanAm Service Station and started, according to his family, his legacy as a colorful Oliver Springs resident. His family said Mr. Hall told many tall tales, traded knives and guns, and entertained many who passed by. His family also said he continued the tradition until his retirement in the late 1970s. According to his family, he was a talented farmer who raised and sold cattle, and he took great pride in his flower and vegetable gardens. His family said he seemed to have a green thumb because he grew so many vegetables, and he was also generous with the bountiful supply that he produced. His favorite flower, the gladiolus, was a pleasing pastime of his, according to his family. Mr. Hall was a member of the Liberty Breathern Church and the Omega Masonic Lodge No. 536 F&AM. He was also a master mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Imogene Carson Hall; a great-grandchild, Cassie Hall; and by four brothers, George Hall, Elmo Hall, Jay Hall and Ralph Hall. Mr. Hall is survived by a daughter, Judy Lane, and husband, Newell, of Oak Ridge; two sons, Larry Hall, and wife, Shelly, of Oliver Springs, and David Hall, and wife, Nancy, of Coalfield; six grandchildren, Tom Hall, Michelle Hall Duff, Sara Smith, Brandee Hoglund, Halston Lane and Nate Hall; six great-grandchildren, Kimberly Hall, Carson Hall, Jordan Gallagher, Derek Smith, Audrey Jones and Erica Henegar; and by one great-great-grandchild, Austin Jones. He is also survived by a brother, Frank Hall of Gray; and by four sisters, Edith Bullis of Boones Creek, Gladys Galloway and Mary L. Hall, both of Sullivan County, and Elizabeth Grindstaff and husband, Ernest, of Johnson City. Gene Edwards and Juanita Baker are considered special friends, and Emma Hutson is considered a special caregiver. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Garvan Walls officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Estes Cemetery in Coalfield. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mollye Kate Cullins, 48, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. She was the daughter of Oliver Charles and Cecille Johnson Cullins, both now deceased. Miss Cullins went to the public schools in Jackson and graduated from Jackson Central Merry High School in 1972. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee in 1975. She was employed by the American Association of Retired Persons as a program coordinator and the National Education Association as an educator coordinator for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bivens Cullins Golden and Alice Faye Cullins; and by her grandparents, Seth E. and Laura Bivens Johnson of Jackson. Ms. Cullins is survived by a brother, Oliver Charles Cullins Jr. of Knoxville; five sisters, Sylvia L. Cullins of Gaithersburg, Md., Lois E. Waddell and husband, Marcelle, of Jackson, Paula J. Cullins of Richmond, Va., Camela N. Hughes and husband, Michael, of Adelphi, Md., and Pamela C. Patterson and husband, Gregory, of Knoxville; an uncle, Robert F. Johnson of Jackson; five aunts, Lola D. Johnson and A. Laura Johnson, who supported her from early childhood through college, both of Jackson, Lois C. Johnson and Marian R. Johnson, both of St. Charles, Mo., and Johnnie M. Cooper and husband, Samuel, of Rockford, Ill.; and by several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service will be at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 413 Hollingsworth Circle in Clinton. Helen Grills Riggs, of the Sullivan Gardens community, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in the Fordtown community, she was the daughter of Mary and Ben Grills Sr. She lived in the Kingsport area of Sullivan County. Mrs. Riggs taught at Miller Perry Elementary School, Dickson Elementary School and Lynn View High School, for several years. She was a member of Glen Alpin e United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Riggs is survived by her husband, Jack Riggs; her daughter, Jill Rich, and husband, Darrell; her son, Joe Riggs, and wife, Becky; four grandchildren, Garrett Rich, Alex Rich, Daren Riggs and Ben Riggs; her sister, Margaret B. Grills; and by her brother, Ben Grills Jr., all of Kingsport. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Glen Alpine United Methodist Church in Kingsport with the Rev. John Toney officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the building fund of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church, 3200 Glen Alpine Road, Kingsport, TN 37660. Rodney Wilson, 40, of Briceville, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was the son of Faye Phillips Wilson of Lake City and Claude G. Wilson, who is now deceased. Mr. Wilson was a Baptist. His family said he loved working with computers and enjoyed fishing, and he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son. His grandparents, John R. and Leona Wilson and Perry and Florie Phillips, also died earlier. In addition to his mother, Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Patty Wilson; nine children, James Joseph, and wife, Melanie, of Clinton, Timothy A. Joseph, and wife, Nakomia, of Knoxville, Brian Keith Joseph, and wife, Trina, and Daniel Wayne Joseph, all of Hyden, Ky., Josh Graham of Lake City, D.J. Wilson, Samantha M. Joseph, Natasha Wilson, and Cheyanne Wilson, all of Briceville; and by three grandchildren, Jamie Lee, Leiha Michelle and Alana Anne Joseph. He is also survived by a sister, Ginger McKamey of Clinton; a brother, Claude Steven Wilson, and wife, Lorie, of Briceville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Opal Skeens of Hyden, Ky.; three nephews, Preston McKamey, Scotty Wilson and Stevie Wilson; and by several other relatives. Andy McCoy, Teresa McCoy and Abby McCoy, all of Briceville, Jennifer Harness and son, Dillion, of Lake City, and Tracy Simmons and wife, Teresa, of Clinton, are considered special friends. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Howard Hurst and Rev. B. Ray Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the funeral home. Richard Donavan Corley, 52, of Knoxville, formerly of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was the son of Eloise P. Corley and Thomas L. Corley, who is now deceased. Mr. Corley was a graduate of Brainerd High School in Chattanooga and he attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. His brother, Thomas L. Corley, also died earlier. In addition to his mother, Mr. Corley is survived by two brothers, Andrew P. Corley, and wife, Rosa, and Mark V. Corley; his sister, Christina C. Byrum, and husband, W. Todd; three nieces, Brooke Byrum, Allison C. Moe and Emily Corley; and by a grandniece, Sydney Moe. Services for Mr. Corley will be private.
