Scott, 79, Jacksboro, ============================================ Roger Ernest Anderson, 59, Hightown, VA., died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003 at his home. He was born November 20, 1944, to the late Catherine Louisa Anderson and Ernest Theodore Anderson of Dell Rapids, South Dakota. He was a member of the Senior Intelligence Service of the Central Intelligence Agency and was recently awarded the National Intelligence Medal of Achievement and the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal in recognition of his achievements, significant contributions and enduring impact to the intelligence mission of the United States. These awards are two of the highest honors presented to intelligence officers. The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) also honored him in 2002 for meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service by a member of the United Intelligence Community. The NRO designs, builds, and operates the nation's spy satellites. He also received the CIA Commendation Medal. His 35 years in intelligence also include a 20-year Army career. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1987. During his years of military service, he had two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service Medals, an Air Medal and an Army Commendation Medal. He worked on the Patriot Missile defense system and managed many of the Army's intelligence and electronic warfare programs. He was a member of the Blue Grass United Methodist Church and the Blue Grass Ruritans. Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Ursula Anderson Smith. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Constance Huddleston, Anderson, Hightown, VA; son-in-law, Darren Carl Smith; grandson, Leif Huddleston Smith, Gordonsville, VA; brother, David Anderson, Dell Rapids, S.D.; sister, Norma Anderson Ferguson, Ironton, MI.; sister, Barbara Anderson Trevithick, Arvada, CO. and 12 nieces and nephews. The funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 22. Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Grass United Methodist Church, Union Chapel United Methodist Church or the Highland Medical Center. John Beaty "J.B." Blankenship, 72, Pioneer, died Friday September 19, 2003 at Beech Tree Manor. J.B. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a lifetime member of the VFW, a Mason and Shriner, and a member of First Baptist Church of Elk Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julie and Vembert Blankenship; sister, Sentinial Foster. John is survived by his wife, Barbara Blankenship, Pioneer; two sons, John Dale Blankenship, PA., Barry Blankenship and wife Robbie, Winfield; one daughter, Vicky Gats, OH., six grandchildren, Jonathan, Tabitha, and Tara Blankenship, all of Pioneer, Christopher, Nicholas and Jordan O'Conner, OH.; two brothers, Louis Blankenship, Pioneer, Jess Blankenship, OH.; two sisters, Betty Kittle, Arlena Ward, both of Warfield, IN.; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Sunday, September 21 at First Baptist Church of Elk Valley with Reverends Earl Chapman and Albert F.K. McIlvaine officiating. Masonic services were conducted by the Jellico Lodge #527 F & AM. Military honors were conducted by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Burial was in Valleyview Cemetery. Harp Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of the arrangements. Barbara Sue Guy Carroll, 59, LaFollette died Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital, Knoxville. She attended Fincastle Church of God. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Paul L. and Bonnie Bailey Guy. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Kenneth Allen, Jacksboro; granddaughters, Amanda, Jacksboro, Samantha Allen, LaFollette; grandson, Kenneth Allen Jr., Jacksboro; brother, Charles E. Guy; sister, Pauline Brantley, both of LaFollette. Funeral services were Friday, September 19 at Cross Chapel with Reverends Mike Smith and Audie Murray officiating. Interment was Saturday, September 20 at Bakers Forge Cemetery. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Homer Harvey Creekmore, 75, Jellico, died Thursday, September 11, 2003 at Jellico Community Hospital. Homer is preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Sarah Creekmore; brothers, Ernest, Edd, Harold, Eugene and Hubert Creekmore, Charles and Emily Creekmore. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Creekmore, Jellico; son, Charles Francis Creekmore, GA.; two brothers, Bill Creekmore, Newcomb, John B Creekmore, Jellico; three sisters, Rachel Roe, Sue Thomas, both of Jellico, Betty Ruth Corwin, Vail, County; several niece, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Sunday, September 14 in the Chapel of Harp Funeral Home with Reverends Ray Landes and Sam Walden officiating. Burial was in the Douglas Cemetery. Mossie Douglas, (wife of John Trim Douglas), 76, East Bernstadt, KY., formerly of Jellico, died Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Corbin, KY. She is survived by her son, Jerome Douglas, East Bernstadt, KY.; daughters, Joyce Megson, Dayton, OH.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mable Huskey, Jellico. Funeral services were Sunday, September 21 at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willie Partin officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery. Harp Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of the arrangements. Earnest Nathan Fuston Sr., 57, Pioneer, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003. He was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Fuston; brother, Larry Fuston. Earnest is survived by his mother, Clara Collins, Jellico; three sons, Earnest Nathan Fuston, Pioneer, Joshua Wayne Fuston, Caryville; Lucan Matthew Fuston, Pioneer; daughter, Rachel Ann Fuston, Jacksboro; four grandchildren, Megan, Dustin, Patrick, Layne; six brothers, Everette Fuston, Chicago, Il., Jerry Fuston, Matthew Fuston, both of Jellico, Paul Fuston, Jacksboro, Leroy Brock, Lawrence Brock, both of Jellico; three sisters, Eva Rose, Houston, Tx., Silvia Lee, Williamsburg, Ky., Betty Rose, Toledo, Oh. and a host of other relatives and friends. Asher Hoskins, 79, Louisville, died Sunday, September 21, 2003 at Baptist Hospital East Louisville. He was a native of Bell County, KY, retired from South Central Bell, with over 30 years of service, 3rd Degree Master Mason-Olekia Temple-Lexington, Master Mason-KY Lodge #490, Williamsburg, KY, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Crestwood Baptist Church. Asher was preceded in death by a son, Asher L. Hoskins. He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah Johnson; daughters, Carolyn Ann Robinson, Cooksville,Donna Sue Robins, Louisville; step-son, Larry Farrell, Buckner; step-daughter, Gwen Wilson, Pewee Valley; brother, Ellis Hoskins, Jellico; sisters, Doris Douglas, Middlestown, Bobby Jean Green, Bowling Green, Ada Potter, Middlesboro and Sue Elam, Reynoldsburg, OH.; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral was Tuesday, September 23 at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood with Rev. Chris Platt, Associate Pastor, Crestwood Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Floydsburg Cemetery. Esther Mae Sharp Johnson, 97, Lake City, died Saturday, September 20, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and worked many years at the Magnet Hosiery Mills and as a cook at the Cove Lake State Park Restaurant. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles E. Harness; husbands, James Early Harness and Hugh L. Johnson; parents, Isaac P. and Martha Jane Sharp; sisters, Bertha Florence Day, Alice Elizabeth Massengill; brothers, Delas Sharp, Dave Sharp, Lee Sharp and Sammy Sharp; son-in-law, Rev. Arnold Sharp. Esther is survived by her daughters, Rev. Howard and (Lorene) Robbins, Clinton, Lillian Ruth Sharp, Lake City; son, James Earl Harness, Lake City; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives. The family received friends Monday, September 22 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the funeral services following in the chapel with Reverends Paul L. Hunley and Charles Harness officiating. Interment was Tuesday, September 23 at the Campbell County Memorial Gardens in Jacksboro. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Della Lawson, age 75, Jacksboro, died Saturday, September 20, 2003 at the St. Mary's Health & Rehabilitation of Campbell County. She was a member of the Jacksboro Church of Christ. Mrs. Lawson loved quilting and making dolls, and she was a former scout leader. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Parks Lawson; parents, Thomas and Minerva Sutton McGhee; brother, Lincoln McGhee. Della is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Ray Lawson, Jacksboro, Gary and Donna Lawson, LaFollette, Michael and Jackie Lawson, Knoxville; daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Sakrison, Knoxville, Jean Lawson, Nashville, Deborah and Mark Walter, Oak Ridge, Rebecca Jane and Mike Aiken, LaFollette; grandchildren, April Dawn Sakrison, Douglas Lawson, Mark and Sara Walter, Cory and Katie Lawson, Heather and Molly Aiken; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ben and Julia McGhee, Jacksboro, Charles and Faye McGhee, Caryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nina and Thomas Ballard, OH., Mary Ruth and MaKinley Brown, Fla., Thelma June and Bill Walker, Ala.; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Eletta (Tommie) Lay, 93, LaFollette, formerly of Knoxville, died Sunday, September 21, 2003 at St. Mary's Health and Rehabilitation Center of Campbell County. She was born September 28, 1909. She was a member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Mrs. Lay was preceded in death by her husband, Carmie Lay; parents, John Davis and Mary Wright Davis; sister, Jessie Seiber Gibson; brother, Marvin Davis. She is survived by her niece and nephew, Billie and Tom Leach, LaFollette; nephew, J.L. Seiber, Kenosha, WI; several great nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law, Alice McGinnis, Largo, Fl. Funeral services were Tuesday, September 23 at Walters Chapel with Rev. Danny King officiating. Interment followed at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville. The family received friends Tuesday before the services at Walters Funeral Home. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Jallie E. Scott, 79, Jacksboro, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was of the Church of God Faith. She retired from St. Francis Hospital of Cincinnati, Ohio as a dietician. Jallie was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Scott; sons, Darrell L. Douglas and Jimmy Lee Douglas; parents, Jim Ayers and Bertha Campbell Ayers. She is survived by her sons, J.T. Douglas, London, KY., Garry K. Douglas, LaFollette, Ronnie D. Douglas, Knoxville, Johnny Scott, Richard Scott and Ray Scott, all of Cincinnati, OH.; daughters, Margaret Bowling, Cincinnati, OH., Loretta Smith, Columbus, OH., several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, L.C. Ayers, Washington State, Leroy (R.L.) Ayers, MI.; sisters, Mallie Bolton, Corbin, KY., Azalee Roberts and Jean Jessie, both of LaFollette; several nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Friday, September 19 at Walters Chapel with Rev. Delmus Bruce officiating. Interment was Saturday, September 20 at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH.
