>From the Oak Ridger 23 Sep 2003 Eunice Faye Buis-Howard, 54, of Oak Ridge, Mertha Evelyn McCutcheon Hardin, 94, of Clinton, William Kenneth Fox, 73, of Clinton, ============================================ Eunice Faye Buis-Howard, 54, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, after a brief illness. She was a heart transplant survivor of 13 years. Mrs. Howard was vice-president of the Knoxville area American Heart Association and was a volunteer at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was active in the Reading for Illiteracy program and had recorded numerous recordings for the blind. According to her family, she was also an inspirational speaker, visiting various schools and educating others on the importance of organ donation. She was retired from the Oak Ridge K-25 site and a member of Truelight Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Martin. Mrs. Howard is survived by her husband, Wesley S. Howard III; her son, Wesley S. Howard IV, and wife, Dorothy, of Memphis; her daughter, Phyllis Harshaw, and husband, Robert, of Alcoa; and by her parents, Lamar and Rene Martin Hall, of Oak Ridge. She is also survived by two brothers, Edward L. Martin and Michael H. Martin, both of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Connie Buis Maddox, with Jeff Hampton, of Oak Ridge, and Diane Buis Ely of Nashville; six grandchildren, Brittany Buis and Kyntrel Harshaw, both of Rockford, and Loren Howard, Jada Howard, Wesley Howard V and Summer Howard, all of Memphis; two sisters-in-law, Betty Handy and Carolyn Caldwell; four nieces, Tina Ard, Whitney Martin, Jazmyne Maddox and Da'Nae Caldwell; and by four nephews, Eric Martin, Travis Maddox with Tonya Newcomb, Calvin Maddox II and J.T. Ely. Sharon Mix, Joyce Martin, Phyllis Moore and Ray Maddox are considered special friends. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Truelight Missionary Baptist Church off Pellissippi Parkway in the Solway community with the Rev. Darius Waters officiating. Burial will follow at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Weatherford Mortuary. Mertha Evelyn McCutcheon Hardin, 94, of Clinton, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at Shannondale Health Care Center. Born Dec. 21, 1908, in Morgan County, Ala., she was the daughter of W.O. McCutcheon and Lillian Grantland. Mrs. Hardin was a member of First Church of God in Knoxville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.D. Hardin, and by her son, William "Bill" Hardin. Mrs. Hardin is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Sharp, and husband, James, of Knoxville; a daughter-in-law, Johnny Hardin Freeman of Claxton; six grandchildren, Pat Dunn and Maurice Dunn, both of Granite Bay, Calif., Mark Sharp of Chicago, Ill., Billy Vaughn and Tim Powers, both of Claxton, and Dillis Freeman Jr. of Knoxville; four great-grandchildren, Alex Dunn, Nick Dunn, John Paul Powers and Grace Powers; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at First Church of God on Westland Drive in Knoxville with the Rev. Dr. Lee Wallace officiating. Burial will be Thursday, Sept. 25, at Fairview Cemetery in Falkville, Ala. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements. William Kenneth Fox, 73, of Clinton, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
