>From The Oak Ridger 26 Sep 2003 Wilber Ray "David" Jacobs, 76, of Decatur, Ga., Sarah Bean Leach, 64, of Speedwell and formerly of Oak Ridge, Richard French, 76, of Oak Ridge, Randolph "Randy" Austin Brown, 32, of Knoxville and formerly of Oak Ridge, ============================================ Wilber Ray "David" Jacobs, 76, of Decatur, Ga., died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at Grady Memorial Hospital. Mr. Jacobs was prominent in the field of radio broadcasting and according to his family, his expertise and knowledge in classical music was exceptional. He held positions in Oak Ridge and Mobile, Ala., and then at Public Broadcasting Radio stations, WGKA and WABE, in Atlanta, Ga. In addition to his ability in broadcasting, he was also adept in interviewing artists who were in Atlanta for concerts or for performances with the symphony orchestra. He enjoyed this aspect of his career, his family said. Born April 7, 1927, in Hayti, Mo., he was the son of E. F. and Hazel Turner Jacobs Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Mr. Jacobs is survived by an aunt, Ella B. Turner; four nephews, Charles E. Baker Jr., Jim Baker, Paul Baker and Mike Jacobs; five nieces, Connie Alvis, Carolyn Jacobs, Cindy Garner, Dixie Maki and Janet Gwaltney; and by several grandnieces, grandnephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. The body was cremated. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park beside his brother, Emmett "Jake" Jacobs Jr. Tara Garden Chapel in Jonesboro, Ga., is in charge of arrangements. Sarah Bean Leach, 64, of Speedwell and formerly of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at her home. Mrs. Leach worked at Terry's Pharmacy in LaFollette for 23 years and was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Allyn Leach; her parents, Dan and Bess Bullard Bean; and by a sister and four brothers, Blanche, Bill, Jack, Bob and Tom. Mrs. Leach is survived by her daughter, Cindy Leach of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Lucretia Clawson and Ruth Claiborne and husband, Marion, all of Speedwell; and by several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in the chapel of Cross Funeral Home in LaFollette with the Rev. Eddie Hoskins officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at Beeler Cemetery in Speedwell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Richard French, 76, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at his home. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2003 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, and burial will follow at the church Memory Garden. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Randolph "Randy" Austin Brown, 32, of Knoxville and formerly of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
