MADISON, DENA (STEVENS) - age 84, of Jacksboro MOORE, WANDA REYNOLDS - age 64, of LaFollette, ROSE, VIRGIL - age 91, of Oliver Springs, SAMPLES, JOYCE KING - age 70, of Hixson, Tenn. ============================================ BUNCH, DELKINS McKINLEY (D.M. or DELK) - age 82, of Halls, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2003, at the Baptist Hospital. He was a member of the St. Luke Methodist Church and a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sue Bunch and grandson, Ricky Bunch. He is survived by his wife and mother of his children, Trucilla Wright Bunch; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Shirley Bunch, and David and Sandie Bunch, all of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bill Owens of Knoxville; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. A very special thanks goes to the staff at the East Tennessee Hospital and East Tennessee Oncology / Hematology Staff, Dr. Arnold Hudson, Dr. Syed Ahmed and Dr. Harry Bishop. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. til 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at the Woodhaven Funeral Home with the service to follow at 8 p.m., Rev. Wyn Bryant and Rev. Kent Williams will officiate. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at the Woodhaven Memory Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Woodhaven Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements. HESTER, MARIE SAVILLA GRAVES - age 86, of Oak Ridge, died peacefully at NHC Health Care on August 29, 2003, surrounded by friends. She was born in Waynesboro, Tenn., on May 14, 1917, to parents Willie and Pearl Bartley Graves. She was a member of the Highland View Church of Christ since the early days of Oak Ridge. She started to work at Union Carbide, K-25, on May 24, 1945, as a Registered Nurse and retired on October 31, 1977. At retirement, she volunteered as a camp nurse for Teenage Christian Camp in Knoxville, enjoying her work with teenagers. She was an active member of the YWCA, working in their Thrift Shop until she entered NHC. She was also a member of the 'Ragtime Band" in Oak Ridge. She was close to her nurses and caregivers at NHC, especially Shannon Darnell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hester, May 8, 1988. Survivors include nieces, Elaine Haitt of Georgia, and Ellen Spillane of Florida; nephew, Andy Ernst of Florida. There will be a special red rose in the casket from Pattye McGrew, a life long friend and member of her nursing class from Columbia, Tenn. Special friends include, Becky Scarbrough, Pauline Johnson, people at the YWCA and the Senior Center and church friends at Highland View Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at 8:00 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with Curtis McClane officiating. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge. JEFFERS, JERRY LEE - age 51, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away Saturday, August 30, 2003, at the U. T. Medical Center of Knoxville. He was born October 11, 1952, in Scott County, Tennessee. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, and brother. He is preceded in death by father, Willard Jeffers. Survivors: mother, Hannah Phillips Ragihn of Knoxville; sons, Donnie Jeffers of LaFollette, Tenn., and Ronnie Jeffers of LaFollette, Tenn.; daughters, Connie York and husband, Bobby of LaFollette, Tenn., and Sherry Brown and husband, Donald of Knoxville, Tenn.; brothers, David Jeffers and wife, Dora of Clinton, Tenn., Leon Jeffers and wife, Betty of Norris, Tenn., Robert Jeffers of Knoxville, Tenn., and Estel Dean Jeffers of Dayton, Tenn.; sister, Frances Rutledge and husband, David of Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends. She was a member of Bruce Gap Church of God. She was a housewife, loved to quilt, collect dolls, flowers, and writing in her diary. She loved her church and good Gospel Music. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Madison, her parents, Ed Stevens and Cora (Broyles) Stevens, brother, Murl Stevens, and sister, Ocea Queener. Dena is survived by her sons, Lawrence (Judy) of Centerville, Ohio, Levon (Carol) of Dayton, Ohio, David of Jacksboro, Ronnie (Lucy) of Kettering, Ohio; daughters, Cora (Otis) Lester of Howard, Ohio, and Phyllis (David) Bohannon of Brooksville, Ohio; 11 grandkids and 10 great-grandkids; brother, Elmer Stevens of Georgia; sisters, Odea Owens and Classie Carroll of Jacksboro, and several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. MOORE, WANDA REYNOLDS - age 64, of LaFollette, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was of the Church of God faith. Preceded in death by her father, Daniel Reynolds. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Stanley Bostic of LaFollette; grandchildren, Amanda and Bradley Bostic of LaFollette; mother, Anna Ayers Reynolds, at the LaFollette Nursing Home; brothers, L. C. Reynolds of Norwood, Ohio, Lonnie Reynolds of Jacksboro, Diance Reynolds of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Gary Reynolds of Norwood, Ohio, and sister, Brenda Weaver of LaFollette. Funeral service 8 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2003, at Cross Funeral Home, Rev. Harry James officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery. ROSE, VIRGIL - age 91, of Oliver Springs, Tenn., passed away Sunday, August 31, 2003, at his residence. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. Mr. Rose retired after 30 years as a Courier for D.O.E. in Oak Ridge. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran, having served in World War II. He is a member of the Omega Masonic Lodge #536 in Oliver Springs, Tenn. Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Tempa Goodman Rose; wife, Cloda Beatrice Nelson Rose, and brothers, Zenith and Bud Rose. Survivors include sons, William "Bill" Rose and wife, Linda of Oliver Springs, Tenn., and Donald "Don" Rose and Karen of Kingston, Tenn.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. SAMPLES, JOYCE KING - age 70, of Hixson, Tenn., passed away Saturday, August 30, 2003, at a hospital in Chattanooga. She was born in Knox County and lived many years in Oak Ridge, where she attended Robertsville Baptist Church. She retired from Hartford Steam Boiler where she was a Certified Professional Secretary. She is survived by daughters, Diane Boaz and husband, Ray of Signal Mountain, Janeen Davis and husband, Steve, of Houston, Texas, and Jenny Sharp and husband, Tom of Farragut; grandchildren, Elizabeth Burnette and husband, Chad of Nashville, and Katie Boaz and Ray Boaz III of Signal Mountain, and Stephen Davis and Matthew Davis of Houston, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with Mr. Joe Easterly officiating.
